JOB SUMMARY
• Work with the CEO, CIB, and COO CIB to develop and execute a business aligned infrastructure and service strategy that meets clients’ requirements.
• Accountable for the design, build and maintenance of operations, service and infrastructure capability to effectively deliver client outcomes. Own the end-to-end accountability for operations, transaction processing and delivery of CIB products to clients. Ensure global systems, capabilities and processes are fit for purpose and are implemented as per expected standards across our footprint.
• Responsible for delivery of agreed outcomes on standard metrics/scorecards, e.g. cost, productivity, service levels, risk
• Work with Cluster CTOOs to agree regional and local priorities, and resolve issues around the operating model, systems and processes to ensure these are considered and prioritised into investment plans, remediation initiatives and any other process as appropriate.

• Collectively responsible and accountable for setting business strategy, managing performance and allocating resources across the Bank
• Collectively responsible and accountable for the setting and governance of infrastructure processes and frameworks for robust compliance and controls, e.g. AML and sanctions checks, protection of Bank, client information and assets.
Strategy
- Continuously improve productivity and efficiency of operations by driving an automation (AI, predictive modelling, data analysis) and standardisation agenda for the business that enables client outcomes, sustainable growth and scalability.
- Prioritise business operating issues with the CEO CIB and COO CIB appropriately, including the capability to deliver client efficiently, on platforms which are consistent with core architecture.
Business
- Oversee prioritization, design and management of significant change initiatives linked to Operations.
- Work closely with the cluster CTOOs and CIB business heads to deliver strategy while ensuring strong controls, processes, governance, and risk management linked to Operations.
- Where appropriate support the cluster CTOOs in critical projects, including Merger & Acquisition activity and regulatory projects.
Risk, Control and Governance
- Accountable to ensure there is a framework for effective management of non-financial risks (including those arising from projects) for CIB Operations under the ERMF.
- Accountable to ensure that material risks which affect the operational processes, critical systems are monitored, managed (to minimise loss and risk) and escalated in accordance with the ERMF
- Ensure processes for products, clients, and controls linked to CIB Operations are fit for purpose and meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that Risk Management matters linked to Operations that are brought to the job holder’s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or escalation to appropriate risk committees via the CIB COO.
- Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct. Develop a robust culture to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees.
Processes
- Implement digitization projects and manage the change process to reduce manual hand-offs, reduce risk and improve client service linked to CIB Operations
- Drive adoption of best practices, architecture, technology standards and methodologies across CIB Operations.
People and Talent
- Lead and support a change in mindset, building a culture of client centricity, agility, and accountability through standardised metrics and measurement, ensuring everyone in Operations are drivers and owners of client outcomes.
- Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
- Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
- Review team structure and capacity plans in accordance with change in business structure and demand.
- Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles and they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.

- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. - Effectively and collaboratively identify, elevate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters related to CIB Operations.

- Promote the Group’s brand and Here for good with employees, clients and regulators.

Business Continuity Management
- Responsible for ensuring an adequate Business Continuity Management (“BCM”) plan is in place for CIB Operations across the business, to facilitate continuity of critical business operations in the event of significant business interruption.

Our Ideal Candidate
- Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications; University educated
- Licenses and Certifications/accreditations; none additional

- Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications – relevant degree
- Minimum 15 - 20 years of professional experience as a C-suite executive
- Strong background in leading and managing a global workforce covering Operations and Technology domains within international firm/organisation
- Stays current in knowledge with a focus on the future of technology
- Self motivated leader with a growth mindset
- Advanced level communicator , with ability to influence and manage stakeholders from various seniority and backgrounds, preferably with international exposure
- Highly innovative and current in application of human centred design principles
