Job summary

Baker Hughes seeks a Global Electrical Field Services Engineer to lead commissioning, upgrades, testing, and training on large rotating electrical machines and control systems in field environments.

The role requires extensive overseas/offshore work, strong English communication, and a solid Electrical/Electronic background. You will interact with clients, interpret technical drawings, and ensure safety and reliability in challenging power-generation projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in the Power Generation industry.
• Electrical or Electronic qualification or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of networking systems (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet, 61850); Fibre would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment concepts, practices and procedures.
• High-level knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems.
• Be an effective communicator with English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, PMS, Electrical protection systems, AVRs, and Synchronizing equipment.
• Upgrades to AVRs, PMS, Synchronizers, protection relays, and other control elements.
• Electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and windings in the field.
• Deliver training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field colleagues.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and requirements; attend on-site meetings.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments for client sites.
• Assist mechanical service engineers on assignments as needed.

To carry out commissioning /installation/repair/maintenance and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and their associated control equipment.

As a Global Electrical Field Services Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronizing equipment.

• Conducting upgrades to AVRS, PMS systems, Synchronizers, Protection relays and other control elements.

• Carrying out electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings in the field.

• Delivering training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and field service colleagues.

• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications and technical requirements. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises.

• Preparing method statements and risk assessments in relation to client sites where needed.

• Assisting mechanical service engineer(s) on assignments, which will not necessarily involve electrical related activities.

To be successful in this role you will:

• 7+ years of experience in the Power Generation Industry

• Have an accredited Electrical or Electronic qualification or relevant experience

• Have knowledge of networking systems. Such as, Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fibre would be advantageous

• Have knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of Health, Safety & Environment

• Have a high-level knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems

• Be Self-reliant, resourceful and a problem solver with well-developed commercial awareness

• Be an effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written English.

• Able to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working - working away approximately 29 weeks per annum

• Have experience in dealing with external stakeholders on site and operating remotely on own initiative

• Be a good team player with the ability to work independently
