About Bloomberg

Bloomberg is a global financial information and media company headquartered in New York City. Founded in 1981 by Michael Bloomberg, the company has grown to become one of the world’s leading providers of financial data, news, and analytics. Bloomberg operates across more than 180 countries and employs thousands of professionals who deliver real-time financial information and insights to clients in the financial services, investment management, and corporate sectors. The company is known for its Bloomberg Terminal, a computerized system that provides financial professionals with access to market data, news, and analytics. Beyond its core financial information business, Bloomberg has expanded into news and media, publishing, events, and technology platforms that serve global markets. Bloomberg maintains a commitment to editorial independence and journalistic integrity across its news operations. This position is being administered through Bloomberg as a third-party vendor arrangement for the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), an independent, private-sector-led initiative. GFANZ was established to mobilise private finance and remove barriers to investment in the global transition to net zero. The organization works with financial sector firms to identify financing opportunities and develop solutions to unlock investment, particularly in Emerging Markets and Developing Economies. GFANZ operates through regional networks spanning Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America & the Caribbean to embed regional perspectives and expertise in global strategy development. The Asia Pacific Network, established in June 2022, operates from a central office in Singapore with country chapters in Japan and Hong Kong, focusing on supporting real economy decarbonisation, improving enabling environments, mobilising capital into emerging markets, and enabling knowledge-sharing on sustainable finance.

About this Role

The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) is seeking an experienced and diplomatic Regional Director to lead the GFANZ Asia Pacific Network. This is a 12-month contract position based in Singapore that plays a critical role in advancing climate finance and sustainable development across the Asia Pacific region. The Regional Director serves as the primary project director and on-the-ground ambassador for GFANZ across the region, with ultimate accountability for the quality and impact of all Network activities. The role carries a dual reporting line to the Global Executive Director for Regional Networks and the GFANZ APAC Advisory Board, requiring close collaboration with the broader GFANZ team, including global energy transitions, capital mobilisation, and capacity building teams. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision and political judgment with strong project and people management skills. The Director will maintain a culture of collaboration and high-quality execution while managing the APAC team and engaging regional stakeholders including financial institutions, policymakers, and partners from the official, scientific, and climate communities. This role requires an experienced finance professional with deep familiarity of the regional financial, policy, and regulatory landscape and the ability to navigate complex multi-stakeholder environments with credibility and sensitivity.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the GFANZ APAC Network and manage the APAC team to deliver to a high standard
  • Serve as primary project director and on-the-ground ambassador for GFANZ across the region
  • Maintain ultimate accountability for the quality and impact of all Network activities and work products
  • Manage and empower the APAC team to deliver to a high standard
  • Build and maintain connections with key stakeholders across APAC, including financial institutions, policymakers, Country Chapter leads, and partners from the official, scientific and climate communities
  • Ensure programming engages relevant actors across the region’s diverse markets
  • Develop and coordinate regional programming, training, and resources
  • Enable financial institutions and policymakers to understand the value of GFANZ’s work through thought leadership
  • Work closely with the global GFANZ Secretariat to ensure APAC Network activities are aligned with the broader GFANZ workplan
  • Surface regional developments, expertise, stakeholder feedback, and implementation insights to inform global priorities and decision-making
Requirements
  • Strong experience in the financial or official sector with a track record of mobilising finance for climate or development objectives
  • Deep familiarity with the financial, policy and regulatory landscape across APAC, including blended finance and private capital mobilisation
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted senior relationships across financial institutions, government, MDBs and DFIs in the region
  • Ability to navigate complex multi-stakeholder environments with credibility and sensitivity
  • Experience representing an organisation externally at senior convenings and high-profile forums
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including preparing materials and briefings for senior leaders
  • Highly collaborative working style with ability to coordinate across multiple teams, functions and geographies
Benefits
  • Access to Bloomberg’s professional development and learning resources
  • Reasonable adjustments and accommodations provided to individuals with disabilities as needed
