Job description

This role is responsible for leading business development, marketing, and sales support activities for MELCO’s Defense and Space Systems business across the Asia-Pacific region. The General Manager will identify new business opportunities, strengthen regional partnerships, and ensure alignment with MELCO Defense Systems Division (DFD) strategy.

The position requires close coordination with Japan Headquarters and factories, as well as a strong understanding of regional defense environments and geopolitical considerations.

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategy
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the APAC region for all categories of MELCO defense and space systems products, in alignment with HQ strategy.
  • Analyze and interpret regional defense concepts and market dynamics to support opportunity development.
  • Conduct market analysis and continuous monitoring to support the formulation of marketing and sales strategies.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with sales representatives, industry partners, Japan Embassy personnel, and overseas group companies.
  • Navigate complex regional business environments to connect with potential customers, deepen collaboration with partners, and enhance awareness and understanding of MELCO’s defense business.
HQ & Factory Coordination
  • Coordinate and consult closely with MELCO Headquarters and factories in Japan on sensitive and strategic matters, ensuring appropriate governance and information flow.
Organizational Management
  • Lead organizational management activities, including annual business planning (BP/MYF), budget management, personnel development, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including export control, security, and corporate governance requirements.
Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the defense manufacturing industry, with proven leadership responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of defense and space products, the defense and space industry, and geopolitical matters relevant to national security.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, leadership, and decision-making capability in a multicultural environment.
  • High proficiency in Japanese (spoken and written), required for direct reporting and close collaboration with Japan Headquarters.
