About the Role
As General Manager – Business Management, you will be responsible for driving the expansion of our online automotive marketplace business in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. You would ideally have extensive experience in automotive retail, both new and pre-owned vehicles, and a first-hand understanding of the market in APAC with a proven track record in managing successful automotive businesses.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional market strategy for buying and selling both new and pre-owned cars, including market analysis, identifying key growth areas, and setting clear objectives.
- Accountable for the delivery of the marketplace annual plan P&L, including sales, contribution margin (ROI) and headcount as approved by Group management.
- Lead the opening of new branches in multiple countries to expand our regional market presence and reach a wider customer base.
- Oversee retail and wholesale operations in the region, managing a team of professionals to ensure optimal inventory management and pricing strategies in each market.
- Recruit, train, and manage high-performing country teams, and ensuring that they are aligned with the company's goals and values, while motivating them to achieve via a structured incentive program.
- Identify and develop valuable partnerships and collaborations in various markets to drive business growth and enhance the company's presence in the market.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the operations, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance.
- Ensure that all operations adhere to local regulations and standards and uphold Carro’s reputation and code of business conduct.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of used car markets and automotive industry in the region.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, management, or any related field (MBA or equivalent is a plus).
- At least 5+ years of proven experience in a senior leadership role within the automotive industry or a related field, preferable in a regional or global role.
- Experience in and deep knowledge of the automotive market in APAC and familiar with the consumer trends of the region.
- Demonstrated ability to drive growth and business expansion, P&L management, cost control.
- Strong financial acumen with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills with proven record in managing and driving a high-performing team.
- Excellent networking and communication skills and the ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders.
- Technologically savvy and familiar with online retail of vehicles.
