Job description

We are a small-batch artisanal bakery on the hunt for a Full-Time Chef. This is a 5-day, 45-hour per week role.

We pride ourselves on using good quality ingredients, seasonal produce, and making everything from scratch. From the condiments in our sandwiches to the jams we serve with our bread, everything is made in-house.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Possess good work ethic - we value punctuality, willingness to learn and adapt, diligence, and knowing how to be a good team-player.
  • Be able to work on weekends (and PHs if we are open).
  • Possess 2-3 years of professional kitchen experience.
  • Be comfortable working in an open kitchen. This also means you will have to be okay with a little bit of customer service from time to time. (No table service, don't worry.)
  • Be willing to commit for 1 year minimally. This is because we invest time and labour in training new staff.
  • Be okay with early starts at 6:30am.
  • Have a good palate, know how to extract maximum flavour from produce and be able to season dishes and food very well.
  • Have good knife skills (and preferably a sharp knife that is well-maintained).
  • Be able to work independently with a relatively broad knowledge of general cooking. We make lots of condiments like pesto, tapenade, gremolata, vinaigrettes for salads, etc.; braised dishes like beef stew, coq au vin, etc. that start with a base of mirepoix/soffritto; roast vegetables; lots of vegetable-forward food like delicious salads, soups, braised vegetables etc. You do not have to have full knowledge of the above mentioned, but you must be willing to learn.
Your Job Scope Includes
  • Daily kitchen prep for our regularly changing menu featuring seasonal produce.
  • Preparing condiments for our sandwiches / salads
  • Cooking soups, making broths from scratch
  • Sandwich prep e.g. slicing meats, cheeses, etc
  • Lunch service including making salads / soups / assembling sandwiches
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory
  • Contributing to menu development
  • Day-to-day upkeep and cleaning of workspace. This includes washing and drying dishes, cleaning down workstations and chillers, scrubbing the floor and taking out trash at the end of the day, etc.
