Job description

We are seeking a commercially mindedFreight Analyst to support our bulk logistics and shipping operations. This role focuses on analysing dry bulk freight risks, vessel performance, and freight costs across key commodity flows. You will provide market insight and data-driven analysis to support chartering, procurement, and operational decision-making.

Responsibilities
  • Analyse dry bulk freight rates, hire costs, and voyage economics across major vessel classes (e.g. Handysize, Supramax, Panamax, Capesize)
  • Monitor market indices and benchmarks (e.g. BDI, time charter and voyage rates)
  • Collect, process, and analyse large sets of market data (historical rates, volumes, vessel supply, fuel prices, etc.) to identify trends, anomalies, and potential trading opportunities.
  • Support risk management activities by assessing and quantifying market risks associated with volatile freight rates and advising on hedging strategies.
  • Assist in evaluating and mitigating risks related to client positions by understanding their exposure in the dry bulk sector.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years in a Freight / FFA focused role
  • Proficient in data analysis tools such as SQL / Python etc
  • Ability to work independently
