Job summary

An aerospace technology company in Singapore is seeking a skilled technician to perform Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) on aircraft engine components. Responsibilities include reviewing test orders, ensuring equipment calibration, interpreting test results, and maintaining records. Candidates must be detail-oriented and comply with safety regulations. This position also involves using specialized boroscopes for internal inspections and collaborating with engineers and team members to address any issues found during inspections. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) on aircraft engine components.
  • Review test orders and determine test procedures and part acceptability.
  • Apply agents to parts for testing and evaluation.
  • Perform daily checks on test equipment calibration.
  • Record all information in a logbook.
  • Interpret test results against acceptance criteria.
  • Inspect internal cavities of components using specialized boroscopes.
  • Complete all required paperwork and records.
Job description
  • Work from process travelers and operation sheets/Special Process Procedures to perform Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) on aircraft engine components to locate and determine the severity of discontinuities.
  • Review test orders to determine type of test required, test procedures, and part acceptability criteria.
  • Apply proper agents such as cleaners (pre/post clean), penetrants and developers, etc to part to prepare for testing/evaluation.
  • Perform daily checks on test equipment calibration and ensure all gauging and measuring equipment is within calibration before use.
  • Record all information in logbook.
  • Perform testing operations following specific procedures outlined in manuals, identifying and marking discontinuities.
  • Interpret results of various tests performed against the acceptance criteria specified in operations manual or other approved data.
  • Accept or reject parts based on specified criteria.
  • Perform swab etch and visual inspection post swab etch.
  • Inspect internal cavities of components using specialize boroscopes as required.
  • Complete all required paperwork, records and sign offs.
  • Participate in special investigations, team audits and process reports for corrective action.
  • Interface with Engineers, Cell Leaders and operators, as required.
  • Detect faulty operations and materials and report these and other problems to immediate Cell Leader.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area.
  • Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations during course of duties.
  • Other related ad-hoc activities as instructed by supervisors.
