With our retail space at Dempsey, we are expanding our offerings to include lifestyle products and curated experiences. We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Florist Manager to lead our floral operations, ensure seamless project execution, and drive business growth while maintaining the highest standards of creativity and quality.
Role Overview
The Florist Manager oversees both the creative and operational aspects of The Florté's floral business. This role is responsible for project execution, financial performance, vendor relationships, and collaboration with marketing to ensure the floral department thrives as both a creative hub and a profitable business unit. The ideal candidate is both a creative visionary and a strong business operator.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management & Execution
- Lead end-to-end floral projects, from concept proposals to final on-site installation.
- Translate client briefs into floral styling proposals with clear budgets, timelines, and creative direction.
- Oversee project set-ups, ensuring floral arrangements are executed to perfection.
- Coordinate manpower staffing and logistics for seamless event execution.
2. Creative Direction & Quality Control
- Develop floral designs aligned with The Florté's brand identity.
- Guide florists on design standards, techniques, and quality benchmarks.
- Implement regular quality checks to ensure floral products and services consistently meet expectations.
- Drive innovation by staying ahead of floral trends, techniques, and materials.
3. Financial & Business Operations
- Develop and manage budgets for the floral department.
- Monitor costs, margins, and profitability, ensuring sustainable business operations.
- Analyze sales and operational data to identify growth opportunities.
- Implement cost-efficient processes without compromising design quality.
4. Marketing & Business Development
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create strategies and campaigns that promote floral products, services, and lifestyle offerings.
- Identify target customer segments and support marketing initiatives to reach them effectively.
- Provide creative input for visual merchandising, retail displays, and brand storytelling.
- Support initiatives that enhance brand visibility and strengthen customer engagement.
5. Vendor & Supply Chain Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with flower wholesalers, growers, and material suppliers.
- Negotiate favorable contracts and pricing while ensuring consistent quality and reliability.
- Manage sourcing, inventory, and procurement to align with project timelines and budgets.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
6. Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate the florist team, freelancers, and support staff.
- Allocate tasks effectively and ensure team members are trained to deliver high-quality arrangements.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and efficient work culture.
- Plan and manage staffing schedules with rosterer to meet business and event demands.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of floral industry experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory / managerial role.
- Proven track record in floral styling, event execution, and business management.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, financial management, and sales growth strategies.
- Experience collaborating with marketing teams on campaigns and promotions.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong vendor management and negotiation abilities.
- Client-facing skills with confidence in presenting proposals.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable under pressure.
- Physically fit for hands-on floral work, including event set-ups.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.
