AWS is the leading provider of cloud computing services, providing IT infrastructure offerings such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, AI capabilities and more.
The AWS Public Policy team is at the forefront of helping customers in regulated industries (such as financial services (FS), telecoms, energy and other companies) maximize the benefits of cloud computing and AI by removing regulatory and policy blockers to cloud and AI adoption and shaping policy frameworks.

AWS is looking for a talented, experienced, and innovative individual to develop and drive regional regulatory policy advocacy strategy including representation of AWS before regional policymakers and regulators in the FS industry policy area. The role is focused around policies and regulations related to FS institutions’ use of cloud and AI. The successful candidate will be responsible for advocating for favorable policies and regulations to promote AWS’ business interests in the FS industry, and developing strategies to convince regulators of the (cyber)security, resilience and innovation potential of the cloud and AI.

Responsibilities
  • In coordination with in-country Public Policy teams, develop and execute APJ policy advocacy strategies that mitigate regulatory policy risks to the business and advance business opportunities;
  • Develop external messaging, talking points, and narratives on AWS’ regulatory policy priorities; support the drafting and submission of AWS’ policy position papers and represent the views of AWS before governments, regulatory, and legislative bodies;
  • Work with in-country Public Policy teams to proactively build and advance relationships with key FS policymakers, regulators and decision makers;
  • Build up relationships with respective regional FS industry associations, inter-governmental agencies, academia, other industry thought leaders and third party, and drive direct and indirect engagements to promote cloud friendly policies;
  • Drive long term strategic thinking and thought leadership in the FS, cloud, (cyber)security and AI policy spaces, including organizing regional and global policy campaigns and events;
  • Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, industry associations and partners to promote and advocate the company’s policy priorities.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about cloud, (cyber)security and AI technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations. They should have public policy advocacy experience in FS industry and must be able to point to successful advocacy outcomes they delivered in the past.

Basic qualifications
  • At least 8+ years representing a large FS company or association in the FS industry, a policymaker or regulator, with significant experience running public policy and/or regulatory advocacy efforts;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Law, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, etc.);
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred qualifications
  • Detailed knowledge of FS industry policy frameworks and their impact on cloud and AI adoption – in APJ and globally;
  • Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at highest corporate, political and regulatory levels;
  • Ability to maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry;
  • A self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with various functional groups across an organization and different cultures, in addition to the ability to work independently;
