Company Overview: Polynomial Partners is a newly created quantitative hedge fund manager specializing in algorithmic trading strategies across global financial markets. The firm implements multiple systematic strategies created with robust quantitative research methods developed by the founding investment team over decades of prior work experience.

Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and motivated Financial Controller with a specialization in Fund Accounting. The individual will be a part of a start-up environment and will have exposure to many areas involved in administering and managing a hedge fund business. He or she will have immediate real business impact and will form a part of the core business unit with a wide range of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility for reconciling fund monthly NAVs to external Fund Administrator, tying out valuation, P&L, fees, expenses, and investor allocations
  • Assist with reconciling Fund positions, NAV’s, P&L, and cash on a daily and monthly basis to aid in NAV preparation
  • Liaise with investment team and other stakeholders regarding P&L booking and allocation
  • Coordinate annual audits with the Firm’s external auditors
  • Manage accounting operations for multiple group entities, including invoicing, bill payment, cash reconciliation, and budgetary controls
  • Prepare and organize financial analyses of operations, including accounting statements
  • Assist in managing the firm’s tax affairs and responsibilities globally
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Major. CPA and a willingness to maintain CPA status is desired
  • Experience: 3-7 years’ fund accounting experience, preferably in the fund management industry or at a leading Fund Administrator or Auditor. Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Strong Microsoft Excel skills to manage custom schedules and worksheets. Direct experience with fund NAV accounting including valuation, expenses, fee flows, and investor allocations. Experience in corporate accounting and tax are also encouraged to apply.
  • Personal Fit: Communicate well both verbally and in writing in English. Work well in a small business team environment while remaining self-motivated to accomplish business goals. Strive to continuously develop skillset, stay on top of current issues, provide counsel to senior management in your field. Take personal pride in the integrity of the work product and the accuracy of the Financial Statements you help prepare. Ability to generate creative solutions to solve highly complex problems.
