The Finance Practice Lead (Director) is a senior Go-To-Market and Practice Leader responsible for defining, growing, and scaling the firm’s Finance Practice. This role combines deep Finance domain expertise with strong commercial acumen and presales leadership.
Operating at the intersection of Sales, Solution Design, and Delivery, the Practice Lead drives pipeline creation, shapes complex Finance-led deals, and ensures the firm’s Finance offerings remain differentiated, scalable, and aligned with market demand. The role also leads a small Finance Solutions team that supports presales, innovation, and thought leadership across the organisation.
1. Who You Are:
a. Finance Domain Expertise
- Strong background in CFO-led Finance functions and enterprise planning.
- Proven experience designing and delivering Finance transformation initiatives.
- Ability to translate Finance strategy into practical, technology-enabled planning solutions.
b. Implementation & Consulting Experience
- Extensive experience delivering Finance planning solutions (Anaplan experience strongly preferred).
- Background in consulting or professional services.
- Ability to balance solution integrity with commercial and delivery realities.
c. Commercial & Leadership Skills
- Proven presales, deal‑shaping, and pipeline development experience.
- Strong executive presence with compelling storytelling and influencing skills.
- Ability to lead cross‑functionally across Sales and Delivery without formal authority.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building and scaling practices.
2. What You Will Do:
a. Practice & Offering Ownership
- Own the vision, positioning, and growth strategy for the Finance Practice.
- Define, evolve, and govern Finance planning offerings, including:
- FP&A (budgeting, forecasting, long‑range planning)
- Management and executive reporting
- Workforce planning
- Financial consolidation and close
- Develop and maintain reusable solution frameworks, accelerators, demos, and value propositions.
- Ensure offerings are scalable, differentiated, and aligned with best practices and market needs.
b. GTM & Presales Leadership
- Act as the Finance domain lead in presales, owning solution discovery, architecture, and executive‑level storytelling.
- Shape and influence opportunities from early qualification through proposal development and deal closure.
- Partner closely with Sales, Account Managers, and Anaplan on joint GTM initiatives and strategic accounts.
- Support account expansion by identifying new Finance and cross‑domain opportunities.
c. Client & Solution Leadership
- Serve as senior solution advisor and executive sponsor for strategic Finance engagements.
- Ensure proposed and delivered solutions are value‑driven, scalable, and fit‑for‑purpose.
- Provide design authority and escalation support without owning day‑to‑day project management.
d. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and mentor a Finance Solutions team supporting presales, innovation, and practice development.
- Coach and enable Finance consultants across the organisation, contributing to capability uplift and best practice sharing.
- Collaborate with Delivery and Operations on Finance talent recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
- Drive the development of deep Finance planning skills within the team.
e. Market & Partner Engagement
- Represent the firm as a Finance thought leader through events, webinars, and partner forums.
- Work closely with Anaplan Finance leadership on roadmap alignment, strategic accounts, and joint initiatives.
- Contribute to market‑facing thought leadership and practice visibility.
3. Measures of Success:
- Growth and quality of the Finance pipeline and revenue.
- Win rates on Finance‑led opportunities.
- Adoption and reuse of Finance offerings, accelerators, and assets.
- Strong client satisfaction and internal feedback on solution leadership.
