The Finance Executive plays a key role in supporting the financial stewardship of the church. This includes managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring transparency and accountability in financial reporting, and supporting the church’s ministries through sound financial management. The role requires integrity, attention to detail, and a heart for service within a faith-based environment.
Responsibilities & Duties
Financial Operations
- Maintain accurate accounting records, including journals, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Process payments, receipts, and reimbursements in accordance with church financial policies.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely settlement and proper documentation.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements and monitor cash flow.
Reporting & Budgeting
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for leadership review and audit purposes.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and ministry financial reports.
- Track and report on income and expenditure against budgeted amounts.
- Assist in preparing reports for the Board, Finance Committee, and external auditors.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory requirements (e.g., IRAS, CPF, GST where applicable).
- Maintain proper documentation for audits, grants, and donations.
- Liaise with external auditors, government agencies, and banking institutions when required.
Stewardship & Support
- Support fundraising and donation processes, including receipting and donor acknowledgments.
- Handle restricted funds and ministry budgets with integrity and accountability.
- Contribute to process improvement and digitalization initiatives for better financial efficiency.
- Uphold confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance (experience in non-profit or church settings will be an advantage).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiar with Singapore accounting standards, CPF, IRAS, and Charities Act compliance.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and alignment with the church’s mission and values.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders.
Preferred Attributes
- Familiarity with church accounting practices or fund accounting.
- Experience in budgeting and financial reporting for ministry or outreach activities.
- A proactive and service-oriented attitude.
