Job summary

The National University of Singapore (NUS) Finance Team at Kent Ridge Campus seeks a seasoned Finance Business Partner to provide strategic financial guidance to administrative departments. You will help shape budgets and drive financial performance with analytical insights.

Reporting to the Associate Director, you will partner with various units to align financial planning with institutional priorities, participate in system enhancements, and support governance and compliance efforts.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree in Accountancy; CPA/CMA or CA preferred.
• 8 years of relevant experience; auditing firm background a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of SAP S4 HANA and Jedox.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of independence; able to work with staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide finance leadership and guidance to NUS administrative departments.
• Prepare budgets, All Funds statements, and management reports with financial analysis.
• Liaise with Finance Shared Services and COEs on accounting issues; manage grants and withholding taxes.
• Support finance-related projects to enhance operational efficiency and transparency.

Job Description

Reporting to Associate Director, the incumbent will provide financial advice and guidance to NUS's Administrative departments whilst ensuring compliance with University's financial policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

Finance Business Partnering

• Provide finance leadership and guidance to NUS administrative departments.
• Provide financial advice and work proactively with departments to achieve both financial and business goals.
• Act as finance business advisor in the departments' cross-functional and/or strategic projects/initiatives, including system development and implementation activities.

Financial Planning, Analysis & Reporting

• Prepare budgets and All Funds statements, ensuring alignment with financial guidelines and institutional requirements
• Prepare management reports with financial analysis to provide business insights to support decision making and drive performance in business.
• Perform financial analysis for new initiatives and programs, where applicable
• Manage funds and WBS top-ups to ensure proper allocation and utilization

Financial Operations

• Conduct regular reviews of department finance records such as balance sheet GLs, dormant accounts, etc. to ensure validity and accuracy.
• Liaise with Finance Shared Services and Centre of Excellences (COEs) on accounting issues.
• Manage grant disbursements and certification audits, where applicable.
• Review and submission of withholding taxes.

Special Projects

• Support finance-related projects to enhance operational efficiency and financial transparency.
• Any duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

• Possess a recognised degree in Accountancy, CPA/CMA, CA preferred.
• 8 years of relevant working experience. Working experience in an auditing firm will be an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of SAP S4 HANA and Jedox.
• Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• High level of independence as well as the maturity and ability to work with staff at all levels.
