Our client is a fast-growing drone technology startup developing AI-enabled autonomous painting drone systems for industrial applications. Following a recent funding round, the company is expanding its engineering capability in Singapore and advancing the deployment of its AeroPaintX and AeroCloud platforms across Singapore and overseas markets.
Position Overview
Our client is looking for a Field Application Engineer (Drone Systems & Operations) to serve as the key technical link between local project partners, customers, the sales team, and the software and hardware R&D teams.
This is a hands-on, field-oriented role combining field application engineering, drone operations support, system analysis, solution engineering, and selected product management responsibilities. The successful candidate will support on-site deployment and testing, work closely with field engineers from local partners, gather operational data and user feedback, translate field findings into structured product requirements, and help drive projects through successful delivery.
The role requires strong on-site awareness, practical problem-solving ability, and the capacity to understand both engineering constraints and the operational needs of industrial customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Application, Deployment & Drone Operations
- Support on-site deployment, testing, commissioning, and operation of autonomous drone painting systems.
- Work closely with local project partners and their field engineers to facilitate day-to-day engineering implementation and project execution.
- Observe system performance in real operating environments, identify practical field issues, and support first-line troubleshooting.
- Collect operational data, failure information, user feedback, and site-specific observations in a structured manner.
- Coordinate field validation of new features, software releases, hardware changes, and product improvements.
- Provide on-site technical support, product demonstrations, and user training when required.
2. Client Requirements Gathering & System Analysis
- Communicate directly with clients and project partners to understand and clarify business, operational, and technical requirements.
- Translate client needs and field observations into System Requirements Specifications (SRS) and clearly defined engineering actions.
- Analyze software-hardware interface requirements and assess system architecture feasibility.
- Produce system flowcharts, data flow diagrams, functional structure diagrams, and other technical documentation as required.
- Support the sales team with technical explanations, solution design, and client-facing presentations.
- Prepare technical proposals, system architecture diagrams, presentation decks, and product demonstration materials.
- Participate in client demonstrations and respond to technical and operational questions.
- Contribute to technical sections of tender and RFP documents where required.
4. Software-Hardware Coordination
- Coordinate between the ground station software team, drone hardware team, and local field stakeholders.
- Help define communication interfaces, data structures, and system interaction logic.
- Track system integration testing and support field verification of integrated solutions.
- Help diagnose and troubleshoot system-level issues, ensuring that field problems are accurately communicated to R&D.
5. Project Management & Delivery Support
- Participate in project planning, milestone definition, progress tracking, and delivery coordination.
- Track requirement changes, issue resolution, version iterations, and deployment readiness.
- Help define delivery standards and acceptance criteria based on client and field requirements.
- Coordinate across clients, local partners, and internal teams to keep implementation work on schedule.
6. Product Feedback & Product Management
- Consolidate feedback from clients, field operations, frontline sales, and R&D into structured Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
- Prioritize requirements based on business value, operational impact, technical feasibility, and implementation cost.
- Support quarterly and annual roadmap planning for AeroPaintX and AeroCloud, track release cadence, and report progress to the founder and R&D team.
- Track real-world usage data, including operational efficiency, system reliability, failure rates, and customer satisfaction, to inform product iteration.
- Conduct competitor and market analysis covering industrial painting, cleaning, inspection, and related drone solutions.
- Serve as a reliable source of product requirement information across customers, sales, field teams, and R&D.
- Recommend UI/UX and workflow improvements for the ground station software and AeroCloud SaaS platform from the end-user's perspective.
