Job Overview
Reporting to CBRE Regional Project Manager, the role will represent the Facilities Management team as the single point of contact for the project team and vendors during an office renovation for a global financial institution client. The Senior Project Engineer will provide FM operations perspective to actively manage project risks to live operational spaces and supporting infrastructure and ensure adherence to client and building owner rules, project scope and relevant FM policies.
Skills & Experience
- Engineering Degree (or similar)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in facilities management or project management experience in interior renovations/construction projects
- Excellent client management skills in a corporate environment and a strong team player
- Strong project coordination and site management skills
- Proactive and independent
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Detail-oriented, proactive, able to work with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and other relevant project management software
Work Planning and Risk Management
- Actively manage operational risks due to project work
- Maintain a live risk register updated weekly based on permit-to-work submissions
- Raise any project activities that create operational risks or issues, including impairment of normal system operation, for review with FM Managers
- Obtain approvals for work management requests using PTW system, technology access requests, BMO access, BMR/CMR change management, etc.
- Run weekly meetings to review PTW submissions with contractors, consultants, project management team, client FM and vendors
Site Work Management
- Supervise site works to prevent risk or adverse impact on business operations
- Supervise critical rooms during non‑business hours
- Escalate any on‑site operational issues following FM incident management/crisis handling protocols
- Witness all T&C activities and highlight risks/issues/defects to FM team
- Post project work progress on appropriate frequency
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation such as distribution board schedules, cable and asset labeling, BMS and fire PC graphics
Meetings
- Attend project meetings, design reviews, etc. and provide operational management input, highlight risks/issues to FM team
- Attend site work inspections, defects snagging/rectification inspections, hand‑over inspections
- Run weekly coordination meetings with client FM and vendor team to review reports and discuss action items or risks
Reporting
- Prepare weekly reports summarizing overall project schedule, phasing plan, 1‑month look‑ahead construction plan, upcoming weekend works, risk register, open FM action items, hoarding/dust prevention plans, defect reporting, air quality, etc.
- Report status with respect to FM Operational Readiness and FM Migration Readiness checklists
Design/Construction/LEED Reviews
- Review design and construction issue drawings from an operations perspective
- Provide FM team with findings and feedback; facilitate design review sessions through consultants
- Participate and review all LEED (or equivalent) documentation from an FM perspective
- Develop a tracker of FM obligations for post‑hand‑over with LEED consultants
Handover Process
- Actively manage handover as construction approaches completion
- Ensure marked‑up construction issues submitted with space handovers until final as‑built drawings submitted
- Document Defect Liability Period arrangements, contact points, rectification timelines for critical vs standard defects
- Track defects from handover inspection and post‑handover rise
- Ensure hand‑over documentation submissions tracked, reviewed, approved, including as‑built drawings and O&M manuals
- Arrange training for onsite FM team and client security on fire system operations
- Support setup/update of site in Facilities Management systems
Engineering Responsibilities (Applicable to this role)
- Review and provide inputs on design and construction issue drawings from an operations perspective
- Ensure proper management and updating of all as‑built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals, applying good document management practices
- Review T&C documentation to ensure testing scope covers all systems to be handed over to FM, highlighting any risks/issues/omissions
Property Management Responsibilities (Applicable to this role)
- Coordinate cleaners/movers for floor sweeping/confidential disposal and manage dilapidation prior to space handover to contractor
- Support air quality management within office environment during construction as needed
- Coordinate with move manager from Project Team for phasing and move plans
Working Hours
Project resource shift pattern may require extended hours, weekends and additional shifts. Typical hours:
Weekend: 9 am to 6 pm
Weekday: Morning – 5 am to 2 pm, Evening – 1 pm to 10 pm
Non‑fixed rest day: 2 days per week (1 weekend day & 1 weekday)
