The Gentle Vet is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinarian to join our clinical team in Singapore. You will lead cases with a focus on internal medicine, complex case management and longitudinal patient care.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Discuss prognosis, options and costs clearly with families and clients.
• Mentor and support less experienced veterinarians during case discussions.

The Gentle Vet is looking for an experienced Senior Veterinarian to join our clinical team.

We are a boutique small-animal practice with a strong clinical focus on complex internal medicine and surgery, chronic disease management, geriatric medicine, oncology, palliative care and surgery, alongside comprehensive general practice and emergency presentations.

Our caseload is deliberately broad and often medically challenging. Many of our patients come to us with multisystemic disease, unresolved or recurrent clinical problems, complicated chronic conditions, surgical needs, or cases requiring investigation and longitudinal management rather than a single episodic consultation.

We therefore value veterinarians who enjoy thinking through a case - developing sensible differentials, interpreting diagnostics in context, knowing when to investigate further, and having the clinical judgement to recognise when intervention may no longer serve the patient.

We are also a fear-free practice. How medicine is delivered matters to us just as much as what medicine is delivered.

MEDICINE WITH CONTINUITY For us, excellent medicine and empathy are not competing priorities. Complex and chronic cases require both. We want veterinarians who are prepared to follow their patients through the course of disease rather than simply manage the problem presented that day. That means reviewing results, reassessing treatment plans, monitoring progression and building consistent, long-term veterinarian-client relationships. It also means listening. Before recommending what happens next, we believe in understanding what the family is hoping to achieve for their pet, their expectations, concerns, practical limitations and, particularly in chronic or advanced disease, what quality of life means to them.

THE ROLE

This position would suit an established veterinarian who is confident managing cases independently, but who still enjoys discussion, collaboration and the occasional difficult case that makes everyone gather around the table. We would particularly value someone who demonstrates:

• strong competency and genuine interest in internal medicine and complex case management;
• confidence in diagnostic investigation and longitudinal management of chronic disease;
• sound surgical judgement and proficiency in soft-tissue surgery, with more advanced surgical interests welcomed;
• the ability to recognise and appropriately manage deteriorating or emergency patients;
• ultrasonography skills would be a bonus;
• an interest in oncology, geriatric and palliative medicine;
• ownership and consistent follow-through of cases;
• genuine empathy and patience when communicating with families;
• the ability to listen to and understand client expectations before formulating a treatment plan;
• excellent communication around prognosis, treatment options, financial considerations and quality of life; and
• an interest in mentoring and supporting less experienced veterinarians.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are less interested in finding someone who simply has years under their belt than someone whose years have translated into sound clinical judgement. You should be comfortable taking ownership of your cases, communicating clearly with clients and colleagues, and knowing both when to pursue an answer and when medicine calls for restraint.

Our clinic is supported by in-house IDEXX diagnostics, digital radiography and dental radiography, ultrasound, iM3 dentistry, tonometry, dedicated canine and feline hospital wards, surgical facilities, VIN access and access to visiting imaging and specialist support.
