Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and management of sanctions policies, procedures and processes to meet Singapore, US, EU, UK requirements.
  • Act as the senior escalation point on sanctions-related decisions across the Bank.
  • Serve as primary liaison to Business and Group Compliance on sanctions advisory matters.
  • Contribute to implementation of sanctions policies, training, and risk assessment.
  • Maintain audit-ready practices, logs, and documentation for sanctions advisory.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries from banks related to sanctions compliance.
  • Collaborate with Group Compliance, Internal Audit and control functions to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide ongoing sanctions training to front, middle and back offices as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the Bank.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be part of the Group Compliance, AML/CFT, Sanctions Policy, Advisory & Training team and serve as a Senior representative being the Head, AFC Sanctions. The key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for overseeing the development and management of appropriate policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with all applicable sanctions requirements including those of Singapore, US, EU, UK Sanctions requirements.
  • Serves as the most senior escalation point/decision maker on escalations relating to Sanctions, across the Bank
  • Serves as the primary liaison to Business and Group Compliance in connection with Sanctions advisory matters.
  • Effective contributor for implementation of sanctions policies and procedures, training and risk assessment.
  • Maintain audit-ready and consistent practices, procedures and audit logs for sanctions advisory.
  • Respond to regulatory and correspondent banks inquiries related to economic sanctions compliance.
  • Work closely with relevant Gorup Compliance teams, Internal Audit and other Line 1.5 or Line 1 control functions to ensure that sanctions compliance programs, policies and procedures meet current regulatory requirements.
  • Provide ongoing sanctions training to front office, middle and back offices where required.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the Bank.
  • Keep abreast of current legislative and regulatory developments in ensuring relevant policies, procedures and practices are current.
  • Lead the review of transactions, deals, strategic initiatives, and other relationships to ensure conformity with sanctions laws and regulations and the Bank’s policies.
Requirements
  • At least 12 years of experience in financial industry with a focus on Sanctions Compliance, or Financial Crime Advisory
  • Candidates with demonstratable subject matter expertise in Sanctions Compliance will be required.
  • Candidates with demonstratable subject matter expertise in Exports Controls will have an advantage.
  • Possess market acumen to adjust and adapt to the changing regulatory landscape.
  • Good understanding of industry trends and developments, in the field of financial crime compliance, audit and assurance, or AIDA.
  • Ability to present, engage and influence senior leadership in a professional setting.
  • Impeccable integrity and proven performance track record to deliver outstanding work.
  • Team player who believes that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and who possesses drive, initiative, an eye for detail and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with ability to develop a strong working partnership with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Team player and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.

  • Strong project management and execution skills.
  • Ability to understand business issues and develop solutions that meet regulatory requirements while minimizing impact to normal business processes.
