Role description:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic AEJ Finance COO. This pivotal role will work closely with the CFO to drive finance strategy, manage change initiatives, and strengthen control & oversight and operational excellence across the finance function. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in finance, exceptional leadership and influencing skills, and the ability to navigate complex organizational structures. Responsibilities:
  • Finance Strategy and Transformation:
    Define and Dive Transformation program for Finance
    Organisational Redesign, Operating Model Optimization
    Automation / Digitization of data and reporting
    Outsourcing Strategy
    AI implementation in finance
  • Change Management and Project Oversight:
    Regional strategic legal entity optimization project
    Manage finance book of work and oversee project portfolios
    Track progress, establish accountability and timelines for initiatives
    Coordinate efforts within finance and across other functions (Risk, Operations, Business, Technology)
  • Process Improvement and Re‑engineering:
    Collaborating with functional leads to review and challenge existing processes
    Ensure efficiency and control in all finance processes
    Partner with technology teams for automation initiatives
    Oversee process documentation efforts
  • Finance Control and Oversight:
    Oversee the control framework for the entire finance function operational risk, RCSAs, and internal audit issue follow‑ups
    control heatmaps and escalation processes

    Oversee and coordinate new business approval processes
    Business Continuity Management
  • Cross‑functional Collaboration:
    Navigate complexities and manage conflicts within the finance department

    Assist CFO in preparing presentations and finance updates for monthly communications to the broader finance team
    To senior regional management, headquarters and board meetings
  • Budget Management & Cost Optimization:
    Planning Budgeting (resources & projects); Cost management; Headcount management
    Identify & implement cost‑save opportunities
  • People Management and Development:
    Serve as the main point of contact for HR Business Partners
    Conduct talent mapping in collaboration with the Finance Management Team
    Drive people engagement and communication strategy
Skills, experience, qualifications, and knowledge required:
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in technical finance roles (Product / Financial Control, Treasury etc.), with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position including a similar COO role in the financial industry
  • Experience leading large‑scale transformation projects relating to operating model redesign, outsourcing, process re‑engineering and digitization / automation
  • Experience with financial systems and technologies, including AI and automation tools
  • Leadership skills with ability to influence and collaborate across corporate support and business stakeholders at all levels
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to influence the broader finance organization
  • Excellent executive presentation, storytelling, analytical and problem‑solving skills
