Job description

As an Executive Director, you will collaborate with other agencies and partners to develop and execute marketing strategies to increase intellectual disability awareness and vibrancy of Special Olympics Singapore’s sports in both the local and international scenes.

Key responsibilities
  1. Ensure the financial administration and all other processes are in accordance with the constitution of Special Olympics Singapore and standard practices.
  2. Organise fundraising activities and other events as directed by the Board.
  3. Seek necessary sponsorship, funding or grants for the promotion and development of sports competitions and programs.
  4. Liaise with affiliated bodies such as Special Olympics International (SOI), Special Olympics Asia Pacific (SOAP), Singapore National Olympics Council (SNOC) and National Council of Social Service (NCSS).
  5. Liaise with Sport Singapore (Sport SG) on all matters regarding the organisation including the preparation of the Multi-year Sport Plan (MYSP) and half-yearly reports.
  6. Liaise with the Sports Manager on the implementation of various sports programs and ensure they are run in a smooth and efficient manner.
  7. Manage the Special Olympics Singapore office and its secretariat staff.
  8. Conduct performance evaluation on a yearly basis for Special Olympics Singapore staff.
  9. Draft grant proposals for implementation and monitor their progress.
Leadership & Management
  1. Develop and direct organisational strategy
    • Draft organisational policies and philosophies.
    • Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans that meet goals and objectives created in partnership with Board.
  2. Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, and funders.
  3. Lead, coach, develop, and retain staff.
  4. Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board and funders.
  5. Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional expansion.
  6. Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
  7. Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.
Planning & New Business
  1. Build partnerships, establishing relationships with the funders and political and community leaders.
  2. Be an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model.
  3. Create a culture of transparency and communication throughout the organization.
  4. Proactively address challenges in the internal and external environment to protect the organisation’s interest.

Candidates must also have experience in Fund-raising.
