Job description

Paya Lebar Methodist Church is looking for a committed individual to support our ministry and administrative functions. The individual should be bilingual (English and Mandarin) with strong communication and organisational skills, and a heart to serve the church community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Administrative Coordination

  • Support daily operations, events and activities across various ministries by organising logistics, managing tasks and ensuring smooth execution
  • Maintain records, manage supplies and operate office equipment efficiently

2. Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries with professionalism and warmth
  • Engage with church members and visitors, providing assistance and information as needed

3. Scheduling & Planning

  • Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and book facilities with attention to detail and timeliness
  • Assist in the planning and execution of ministry events and activities

4. Reception Support

  • Welcome and engage with church members and visitors when scheduled to perform reception duties
  • Ensure that the office reception area is organised and presentable

5. Discretion & Confidentiality

  • Handle sensitive or confidential matters with integrity and sound judgment
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role

6. Service-Oriented Mindset

  • Approach responsibilities with a positive attitude, a servant heart, and a genuine interest in supporting the church’s mission
  • Provide excellent service and support to church members, visitors and staff
  • Any other role, responsibilities and duties as required and assigned by the Church, such as duties for corporate events, etc.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum ‘O’ or ‘A’ level education
  • At least 2 years of relevant administrative or office support experience
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin (required for liaising with Mandarin-speaking church members)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Highly organised and able to multi-task effectively
  • Positive attitude with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong and dependable team player with good collaboration skills
  • Demonstrate initiative to take on tasks and responsibilities as needed
