Job Description
EHS Standards & Policy
- Oversee the development and implementation of EHS policies, standards, and procedures across the company.
- Formulate strategic, forward‑looking EHS policies that reflect changing operational needs.
- Promote a safety‑first culture among site personnel, embedding EHS excellence as an integral part of all work activities.
- Collaborate with site management, the EHS team, and stakeholders to achieve high EHS standards and targets on all projects.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industrial and company safety regulations and standards.
- Support EHS Managers in communicating and implementing EHS policies at the project level.
- Stay updated on the latest regulations; liaise with authorities for clarifications on new or revised requirements, and advise management on potential impacts.
Audit & Risk Management
- Support EHS Managers and Officers in conducting regular and stringent site inspections to ensure a safe and hazard‑free work environment.
- Review findings from internal and authority‑led inspections, and formulate improvement plans accordingly.
- Investigate and review internal incidents/accidents, and implement procedural changes or improvements.
- Review case studies of external incidents and propose improvements to project operations based on the findings.
- Plan and implement comprehensive risk management policies and procedures for all employees.
Digitisation
- Digitally savvy, with experience implementing digital tools to enhance EHS performance.
- Develop and implement a digital plan for collecting EHS data from sites; analyse data to assess and improve project EHS performance.
Training
- Plan and implement regular EHS training programmes for staff, workers, and subcontractors.
- Maintain comprehensive EHS training records in coordination with the HR department.
- Ensure that all new site personnel are properly briefed on relevant EHS regulations and requirements.
Support
- Represent the company in industry and safety‑related groups, and at stakeholder meetings relating to EHS.
- Organise EHS‑related initiatives such as campaigns and awards to promote a strong safety culture.
Communication
- Maintain open communication with Corporate Management and Project Managers to align EHS directions with project operations.
- Proactively identify and highlight potential conflicts between EHS regulations and site operations for resolution with relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
- Preferably a Registered Professional Engineer (Civil) with the PE Board (with a valid PE Practising Certificate).
- Candidate must possess at least a Professional Degree Certificate, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil / Structural) or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 years of EHS experience in the construction field, with at least 7 years in a managerial capacity for building projects.
- Strong all‑round knowledge in EHS management (e.g. ISO9001, ISO14001 & OHSAS 18001), EHS regulations, and planning capabilities to support construction progress and operations in Singapore.
- Good experience in environmental and OSHA compliance, sustainability, risk assessment and reduction, occupational health and safety, and industrial hygiene is essential.
- Possess excellent communication skills to articulate and share vision, goals, plans, strategies, and values to influence the team in achieving desired objectives.
- Able to maintain a high level of accountability and presence to ensure all projects perform to safety KPIs and other pre‑defined EHS goals.
- Proactive and forward‑thinking when faced with challenges; able to adapt and respond decisively to issues.
- Believer in empirical data and measurement as the basis for decision‑making to improve efficiency and EHS performance.
- Organized and detail‑oriented; able to scrutinize safety plans and identify potential safety risks in site activities for effective risk management.
