Job description
Responsibilities
  • Teach English composition writing to primary school students (online classes only) between 2 to 8 per class.
  • Marking of students' work and composition (with Acrobat Reader software).
  • Communicate with parents on students' progress via ClassDojo.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A1 or A2 grade for GCE 'O' level English subject or an A grade for GCE 'A' level General Paper.
  • Experience in teaching primary school English composition or creative writing in enrichment or tuition centres for at least 2 years.
  • Experience in teaching students online via Zoom or similar online platforms.
  • Able to manage students and engage them during online lessons.
  • Experience in marking students' compositions and providing detailed and constructive written and verbal feedback.
  • Excellent knowledge of primary school English composition syllabus and latest PSLE composition format and requirements.
  • Excellent competency in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent competency in English grammar and vocabulary.
  • Able to work from home to conduct lessons online.
  • Only Singaporeans or PRs.
  • Experience in writing, copywriting or journalism will have an added advantage.
  • NIE-trained former MOE school teachers with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and Literature will have an added advantage.

Computer Literacy & Requirement
  • Proficient with PDF, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must own a decent Windows-based Operating System laptop (Windows 10) or a Macintosh Laptop.
  • Have at least 100 Mbps home internet connection.
  • Has a conducive teaching environment at home.
Working hours
  • Lessons are conducted on weekdays between 3 pm to 9 pm and Saturdays between 9.15 am to 6 pm.
  • No teaching on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Work Commencement Date
  • from January 2026.
Other Information
  • Lesson materials and curriculum provided by the Centre.
  • Additional online classes will be given after 3-4 months of observation (for freelancers).
  • Option to convert to part-time or full-time teaching once proven (for freelancers).
  • Lessons are conducted 100% online. However, the candidate could be offered to teach on-site, if preferred.
