Qualifications

  • Secondary/High School education required; technical certifications in engineering or maintenance preferred.
  • Possess a valid driving license.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in hospitality, facilities management, or a technical role.
  • At least 2 years of experience in maintenance, repair, or engineering with hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Previous experience in a hotel or similar service environment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth operation of hotel systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Respond promptly to guest facility requests with minimal disruption.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and address issues before guest impact.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Engineering Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all hotel facilities, systems, and equipment to guarantee guest comfort, safety, and satisfaction. This role requires proactive maintenance, repair work, and troubleshooting to address any technical issues within the hotel. The Engineering Technician will work closely with other hotel departments to support operational needs, uphold safety standards, and ensure that all technical systems function properly, contributing to an overall exceptional guest experience.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Guest and Facility Support:Ensure the smooth operation of all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, for the safety and comfort of guests.
    Respond promptly to guest requests and issues related to the hotel’s facilities, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum satisfaction.
    Carry out preventive maintenance tasks, addressing any technical issues before they impact guests.
    Assist with repairs of guest rooms, public areas, and common hotel facilities, ensuring guest comfort and operational efficiency.
  • System & Equipment Management:Regularly inspect hotel equipment, including heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems, to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
    Perform troubleshooting and repairs to hotel systems, machinery, and equipment, identifying and resolving issues quickly and effectively.
    Maintain a clean and organized mechanical room, ensuring all tools and supplies are readily available and properly stored.
    Document maintenance activities, including repairs and inspections, in the Duty Log to ensure clear communication and follow-up on any unresolved issues.
  • Safety & Compliance:Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, building codes, and hotel standards.
    Respond to emergency situations, including fire alarms, water leaks, or power failures, ensuring a safe and quick resolution.
    Conduct safety checks on all hotel systems and infrastructure to identify and prevent potential hazards.
    Assist in emergency drills and safety training, ensuring the hotel staff is well-prepared for any situation.
  • Collaboration with Hotel Departments:Work closely with other hotel departments, including housekeeping, front desk, and security, to address maintenance issues promptly and prevent any inconvenience to guests.
    Assist in setting up and maintaining hotel equipment for special events or large group functions as needed.
    Provide technical support to other hotel staff, offering guidance or assistance on maintenance-related tasks when necessary.
  • Other Operational Duties:Ensure that all hotel vehicles, including buggies and other transport equipment, are properly maintained, clean, and in working condition.
    Recharge and maintain the hotel's buggy fleet, ensuring it is operational and ready for use by guests and staff.
    Maintain a tidy and organized environment in all work areas, ensuring that tools and supplies are stored appropriately.
    Perform other duties as requested by supervisors or hotel management to support the hotel's operational needs.
