Job Summary
The Engineering Technician supports the Engineering Department in maintaining the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and systems. The role involves performing both preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure the property remains safe, functional, and compliant with local regulations. This position is essential in providing a comfortable and seamless environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Repair
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Conduct maintenance and repair works for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Handle basic carpentry, painting, and general building repair tasks.
- Attend to guests’ maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
2. Preventive Maintenance (PM)
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance for equipment, including air-conditioning units, pumps, water heaters, lighting systems, and safety equipment.
- Update PM checklists and maintenance records accurately.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with Singapore statutory requirements (e.g., SCDF, BCA, EMA safety guidelines).
- Assist in routine checks of fire protection systems, emergency lights, exit signs, and other safety devices.
- Report hazards and implement safe work practices.
4. Operational Support
- Monitor utility usage and report abnormalities.
- Assist contractors during installation, servicing, or major repair works.
- Maintain engineering tools, workshop area, and inventory in good order.
5. Teamwork & Communication
- Report major defects or breakdowns to the Engineering Supervisor/Chief Engineer.
- Work closely with Operations, Housekeeping, and Front Office to resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Provide guidance to junior technicians when required.
Requirements
- ITE/Nitec/Higher Nitec/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Facility Management, Building Services, or related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of maintenance experience in hotels, buildings, or facilities management.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, air-conditioning, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and hands-on repair work.
- Able to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and on-call rotations.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
