Engineering Manager (Mechanical / based in China)

Engineering Manager (Mechanical Design Manager/ Technical)

Our client, a MNC organization, specializes in developing Front‑end Semiconductor Capital Equipment. They are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to be based in their China‑Beijing office.

Position is based in China/ Beijing

Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical design and development of semiconductor capital equipment, including wafer handling systems, vacuum chambers, robotic actuators, and thermal control assemblies.
  • Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers, ensuring on‑time project delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including electrical, software, controls, and process engineering to ensure system‑level performance and seamless integration.
  • Drive design reviews, risk assessments (DFMEA), tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA practices, and root cause investigations.
  • Oversee design documentation, 3D modeling, detailed drawings, BOM creation, and configuration control.
  • Support prototype builds, system integration, testing, and transition to manufacturing (NPI).
  • Continuously improve design processes, toolsets, and team capabilities.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, including 3+ years in a leadership role. Experience in Front‑End or Back‑End Semiconductor Equipment environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, precision motion control, thermal management, and structural design.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Deep understanding of materials selection, GD&T, and high‑precision manufacturing techniques.
