Job summary

Qualifications

  • Solid experience leading real-time distributed software solutions in safety-critical environments.
  • Proven track record managing multi-skilled global engineering teams.
  • Experience in design/architectural reviews of cloud-scale orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of Secure SDLC and secure logistics frameworks (SLSA v1.1).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity controls (e.g., NIST) and ISO/IEC lifecycle standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver engineering solutions aligned with customer expectations.

Together, we’re shaping the future by enabling customers to make pivotal decisions that safeguard communities and power progress.**Responsibilities*** **Team Leadership & Technical Direction** + Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver engineering solutions ensuring team capabilities align with customer expectations. + Provide direction, expert advice, mentoring, and workflow management, including task prioritization and resource coordination, to achieve project objectives and milestones. + Provide technical guidance to engineering teams in line with the agreed architecture, ensuring both effectiveness and adherence to customer requirements. + Provide functional encompassing the Thales Performance Management framework management for reporting delivery roles + Promote knowledge sharing, ensuring work products are sufficiently documented for reuse across projects.* **Project & Process Management** + Oversee the timely delivery of artifacts and releases in line with program milestones. + Facilitate and lead technical reviews, workshops, peer reviews, and project reviews as required by the program. + Ensure delivery in accordance with Thales processes and practices, actively contributing to their continuous improvement + Support discipline managers in defining and tailoring applicable processes, practices, and tools for the project* **Stakeholder Engagement & Communication** + Communicate, analyse, plan, and report as necessary to align team capabilities with customer requirements + Ensure clear and effective communication (both written and verbal) with internal and external customers + Manage customer scope in line with the approved baseline and schedule + Manage customer expectations and provide support during requirements analysis, proposing and negotiating mutually beneficial (“win-win”) solutions* **Risk, Quality & Reporting** + Identify and assess risks, propose effective solutions, execute mitigation actions, and report on outcomes, cost savings, and residual risks + Define and maintain metrics to monitor progress, measure performance, identify issues early, and support informed decision-making to ensure successful delivery + Prepare and lead monthly Technical and Financial Reviews (TFR) sessions and support the Work Package review process* **Commercial & Bid Support** + Support bid activities and contribute to the preparation and review of engineering cost estimates for modification proposals to the functional baseline**Knowledge, Skills & Experience****Qualifications*** Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or other relevant qualification**Essential Experience*** Solid experience of managing the development of real time distributed complex software centric solutions in a safety critical environment (7+ years)* A recognised leader with solid experience in managing multi-skilled global engineering teams and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment* Solid experience in conducting formal design and architectural reviews of complex software centric solutions in cloud-scale orchestration frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes) and/or cloud-native software solutions using cloud-scale orchestration frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes)* Good knowledge and experience in incorporating Secure Software Development Framework and Secure Logistics Supply Chain Framework (SLSA v1.1) in Secure Development Lifecycle* Good knowledge and experience in reviewing Cybersecurity controls (e.g., NIST) in the Secure Development Lifecycle.* Solid knowledge and experience in Systems Engineering lifecycle (eg. EIA632, ISO/IEC15288)* Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders across a complex environment* Solid experience in upskilling and training new engineers* Strong experience using Earned Value Management, Work Package Control and reporting, with exposure to scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera etc.)* Financial / budgetary management of engineering work packages or tasks* Strong ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including Project, Engineering Delivery Managers, Product Owners, Technical Design Authorities, Speciality engineers and the engineering team under management.* Collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence etc.**Desirable:*** Air Traffic Management domain expertise (inc. standards such as ICAO, Eurocontrol, AIDC)* Experience in product delivery using agile methodologies like Lean methods (including PDCA, Kanban, Value-Stream Mapping).
