Job summary

HTX is Singapore's science and technology agency driving AI‑driven robotics initiatives for the Home Team. The role focuses on developing AI for robotic systems, including single and multi‑robot operations, coordination, and autonomy improvements, within a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

The candidate will lead AI algorithm design, stay current with robotics AI advances, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on end‑to‑end delivery. A 2‑year contract applies to new hires.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of ML, CV, NLP and distributed AI.
  • Experience in autonomous robotic systems development and swarm robotics.
  • Proficient in C/C++, Linux, ROS/ROS2, and Python; embedded software experience preferred.
  • Familiar with AI accelerators such as SBCs, DSPs, GPUs, FPGAs or cloud computing.
  • Strong planning and project management skills; team player with good communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI for robotic systems.
  • Design and deploy AI algorithms for single and multi-robot operations.
  • Serve as SME and lead technical developer.

  • Harness emerging AI tech to boost autonomy of robotic systems.

  • Prepare technical specs, design documents, test plans and reports.
  • Test deployed AI solutions with engineering teams.
  • Provide regular progress updates to management.

What The Role Is

We are looking for aspired candidates to be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team that look into the management, development and delivery of robotics, autonomation and unmanned systems in the air, land and maritime domains; to enhance the operational effectiveness of our Home Team.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Responsible for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for robotic systems.
  • Involve in the design, development and deployment of AI algorithms related to single robot operation, e.g., cognitive, perception, navigation, manipulation, and grasping, etc., and for multiple robots operation, e.g., multi-robot collaboration and coordination, and swarm robotics, etc.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and lead technical developer for AI-driven robotic systems.
  • Keep abreast with the latest research and development of AI for robotic systems.
  • Harness emerging AI technology to develop new concepts that can enhance the autonomy of robotic systems.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers passionate in autonomous robotic systems development.
  • Participate in the end-to-end robotic systems’ capabilities development and delivery.
  • Liaise and work with internal/external stakeholders, and vendors to deliver AI-driven robotic systems. Ensure the budget, requirements and schedules are adhered to.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design documents, test plans and test reports.
  • Work closely with other engineers to conduct tests and trials of the deployed AI solutions.
  • Provide regular updates to management on project progress, highlighting project milestones, issues, and expenditure.
What We Are Looking For
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge in but not limited to Machine Learning, Machine Vision, Natural Language Processing and Distributed AI (Swarm Intelligence and Multi-agent system).
  • Experience in autonomous robotic systems development and delivering advanced solutions, e.g., multi-robot collaboration and cooperation, swarm robotics, semantic navigation, perception-based locomotion, etc.
  • Good track record in algorithm development and implementation. Well verse in C/C++, Linux, ROS/ROS2, and Python. Experience in embedded software development and deployment would be an advantage.
  • Possesses good understanding and implementation experience of various AI enabling technology/AI accelerators such as SBCs, DSPs, GPUs, FPGAs, and/or Cloud-Computing, etc.
  • Has strong planning and project management skills.
  • A team player with good interpersonal relationship, organizational and system management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ph.D. / Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field in AI-driven Robotics, and/or Distributed AI.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience. For candidates with more experience, may be considered as Lead Engineer.
  • All new hires are appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance and will be assessed and considered for permanent tenure over time, based on performance.
