Engineer/Consultant – Building Diagnosis and Built Heritage Conservation
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Engineer/Consultant specializing in building assessment with expertise in non-destructive testing (NDT), drone operations, photogrammetry, and laser scanning. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering, architecture, or a related field and a passion for leveraging advanced technologies to assess and evaluate building conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Building Assessment and Analysis
- Conduct thorough building assessments using non-destructive testing methods.
- Identify structural, material, or performance issues and provide recommendations for remediation.
- Perform visual inspections, diagnostics, and condition surveys to evaluate asset integrity.
- Technology-Driven Data Collection
- Operate drones for aerial inspections and photogrammetry to capture high-resolution imagery and data.
- Utilize laser scanning technology to create accurate 3D models of structures.
- Analyze and interpret data from advanced tools to generate actionable insights.
- Project Management and Consulting
- Collaborate with clients to understand project goals and deliver tailored solutions.
- Develop detailed assessment reports and presentations, including recommendations for maintenance or repair.
- Provide expert consultation on the application of NDT, photogrammetry, and other assessment technologies.
- Collaboration and Innovation
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and construction professionals.
- Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in non-destructive testing and digital surveying.
- Contribute to research and development initiatives for improving assessment methodologies.
- Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all inspections and testing comply with applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
- Follow safety protocols during fieldwork, including drone operations and on-site laser scanning.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Structural, or related field), Architecture, Conservation or similar discipline.
Experience:
- Proven experience in building assessment, non-destructive testing, or structural diagnostics.
- Proficiency in operating drones, photogrammetry tools, and laser scanning equipment.
Certifications (preferred):
- Drone Pilot Certification or equivalent.
- Interest, experience or certifications in non-destructive testing methods
- Proficiency in software for photogrammetry and laser scanning (e.g., Pix4D, AutoCAD, Revit, FARO Scene etc).
Skills
