Australian International School is seeking a School Counsellor to lead whole-school educational programs and provide student support. The role involves counselling, case management, and collaboration with teachers, parents, and the broader school community to promote emotional well-being and inclusive practices.

The successful candidate will have a degree in counselling or related field (Master’s preferred) and at least three years of supervised experience with children or youth, preferably in

Position Requirements

• Capacity to provide leadership that enables the effective delivery of whole-of-school educational programs andservices that support the inclusion of all students.
• Capacity for effective counsellingand individual case management involving a multidisciplinary approach,within an environment of competing priorities.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonalskills and the capacity to develop and sustain productive relationshipswithin and beyond the school community.
• Capacity to develop and implementstudent support programs and services for students with high support needsthat reflect best practice and that align with departmental policies andprocedures.
• Strong understanding of childdevelopment, emotional well-being, and behavioural management strategies
• Experience in deliveringsocial-emotional learning programs.
• Demonstrated capacity to effectivelyrespond to sensitive and complex student issues within an ethicalframework.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policiesand procedures related to child protection.
• Ability to work in a multiculturalschool environment and adapt counselling approaches to diverse studentneeds.
• A written application addressing theKey Result Areas.
• References and an interview willcontribute to the final selection of the successful candidate.
• Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents andstaff.

This position will commence on 12April 2027.

Qualifications

• A minimum of three (3) years full-time, supervisedexperience working with children and/or young people in a counselling orpastoral care role, preferably within an international school setting.
• A degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work,or a related field (Master’s degree preferred), from a recognised university.

Additional advantageous qualifications

• Professional membership, orcredentials that meet the criteria for professional membership of astate/national counselling association
• A certificate in cognitive behaviortherapy or similar
• Current full registration oreligibility for registration as a counsellor from a recognised body
