Electrician cum Technician
Role & Responsibilities
The Electrician cum Technician is a multi-skilled technical specialist responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing the factory’s electrical systems, plumbing systems, and mechanical machinery. This role ensures safe, smooth, and uninterrupted operations across the manufacturing floor and the entire facility. The position requires strong hands‑on skills in electrical work, plumbing, and basic machining/mechanical maintenance.
Electrical Responsibilities (Factory‑Wide)
Installation & Maintenance
- Install, inspect, and maintain all electrical systems across the factory (manufacturing floor, offices, utilities, warehouse, etc.).
- Perform wiring, rewiring, cable routing, and electrical panel work.
- Install and maintain lighting, power points, distribution boards, and emergency power systems.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in machinery, production equipment, factory power supply systems, motors, pumps, and tools.
- Respond to electrical breakdowns promptly to minimize production downtime.
Electrical Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all electrical systems comply with local electrical standards and safety regulations.
- Perform regular inspections to prevent hazards such as short circuits, overloads, and fire risks.
- Maintain proper grounding/earthing and safety isolation procedures.
Plumbing Responsibilities (Factory‑Wide)
Installation & Maintenance
- Install and maintain water supply lines, drainage systems, piping networks, and factory washroom facilities.
- Repair leaks, replace faulty valves, fittings, faucets, and connectors.
- Ensure proper water pressure and uninterrupted water flow to all required areas.
Waste & Drainage System Maintenance
- Inspect and maintain factory drainage and waste disposal systems.
- Clear blockages and ensure proper flow to avoid contamination or operational disruptions.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure plumbing systems comply with building codes and health/safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify corrosion, leakage, water contamination risks, or pipeline aging.
Technician / Mechanical Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Servicing
- Operate and maintain mechanical equipment and basic machining tools (cutting, drilling, grinding).
- Support the repair and maintenance of factory machinery, including pumps, motors, compressors, and tools.
Fabrication & Basic Mechanical Work
- Fabricate or modify custom metal parts, brackets, machine supports, or fittings as required.
- Assist with alignment, calibration, and adjustment of manufacturing equipment.
Preventive Maintenance
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems, plumbing lines, production machinery, and utilities.
- Conduct routine checks on all systems to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Record all inspections, servicing activities, and repair works accurately.
Facility Maintenance & Support
- Support the maintenance of the entire factory infrastructure, including office areas, canteen, utilities, and outdoor areas.
- Coordinate with contractors when major repair works or system upgrades are required.
- Support production teams with technical issues affecting machines or utilities.
Health, Safety, and Emergency Response
- Follow strict safety procedures during electrical and plumbing work.
- Respond to emergency issues such as electrical outages, water leaks, or machine breakdowns.
- Maintain proper documentation for compliance and audit purposes.
Qualifications Required
Education + Experience
- You have a NITEC (National Institute of Technical Education Certificate) in a relevant electrical field, plus at least 2 years of practical experience in Singapore for the kind of electrical work an electrician is licensed to perform.
Course + Experience
- If you have at least 5 years of relevant practical experience and have completed the EN032 Licensed Electrician Preparatory Course, you are also eligible.
Electrical Technician Licence
- Requires a Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering + experience, or being a practicing licensed electrician + 5 years’ experience + the EN033 preparatory course.
