Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, and maintain electrical wiring, lighting, and control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical circuits, motors, panels, and switchboards.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Support commissioning and testing of electrical installations.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Job description

An Electrical Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, wiring, machinery, and control panels in buildings, plants, or construction sites. The role ensures that all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local electrical codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, and maintain electrical wiring, lighting, and control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical circuits, motors, panels, and switchboards.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Support commissioning and testing of electrical installations.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., SS, EMA).
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Assist engineers and supervisors in new installations or system upgrades.
  • Replace or repair faulty components such as circuit breakers, relays, and fuses.
  • Calibrate and test electrical instruments or meters.
  • Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities and test reports.
  • Follow site safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
Minimum Education
  • NTC / NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Certifications (Preferred)
  • CoreTrade – Electrical Works or Certificate of Trade Test (CTT).
  • Apply Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) in Construction Sites (CSOC).
  • Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) certification (advantage).
Experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant working experience in electrical installation or maintenance.
