Role Overview
The Electrical Equipment Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, supervising, and maintaining all activities related to electrical equipment, systems, and installations. The role ensures full compliance with Singapore codes, project specifications, regulatory requirements, and workplace safety standards. The engineer supports project delivery from design to commissioning and provides technical expertise during operations and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning
- Install electrical panels, switchboards, transformers, lighting systems, control panels, and related equipment.
- Perform testing & commissioning (T&C) for LV equipment, protection devices, and power distribution systems.
- Ensure proper cable sizing, routing, and termination according to engineering drawings and EMA standards.
- Verify workmanship quality and ensure all electrical installations meet project specifications.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Conduct corrective and preventive maintenance for electrical equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, electrical faults, insulation issues, and system breakdowns.
- Perform equipment diagnostics, load tests, IR tests, continuity checks, and safety inspections.

Engineering & Technical Support
- Interpret electrical single‑line diagrams (SLD), layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Provide engineering solutions for system modifications, upgrades, and optimization.
- Review and approve electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, and method statements.
- Assist in design coordination with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

Compliance, Safety & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with EMA regulations, SS638, SS555, and relevant electrical codes of practice.
- Prepare T&C reports, as‑built drawings, equipment documentation, and client submission files.
- Ensure all electrical works follow workplace safety guidelines and risk assessments (RA & SWP).
- Support audits, site inspections, and regulatory approvals as required.

Project Coordination
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution.
- Monitor project progress, check material deliveries, and ensure timely installation.
- Coordinate technical discussions with vendors for equipment selection and troubleshooting.
Additional Duties
- Attend project meetings and provide engineering updates and technical inputs.
- Support procurement by evaluating technical proposals and vendor quotations.
- Train technicians and workers on electrical equipment safety, installation, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation, logbook updates, and inventory management for electrical tools and equipment.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of electrical machinery, LV distribution systems, switchgear components, and control systems.
- Experience with protection relays, circuit breakers, VSDs, MCC panels, and instrumentation equipment.
- Familiar with electrical safety standards, energy management, and system reliability practices.
- Ability to handle on‑site testing tools such as multimeters, megger testers, earth testers, and thermal cameras.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and coordination skills.
