Job summary

A leading chemical manufacturing company in Singapore is seeking an EHS & Security Manager to ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate standards. Responsibilities include leading incident investigations, managing audits, and conducting EHS training for stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a degree in engineering or EHS, relevant certifications, and at least 3 years of experience in a chemical plant environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer with sound knowledge of regulations.
  • Registered Fire Safety Manager with experience in fire protection systems.
  • Sound knowledge of ISO management system standards.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory requirements relating to EHS operations.

Job description

To support the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager in the planning, execution and continuous improvement of the EHS and security management system. This role ensures compliance with Singapore’s legislation, corporate standards, and other requirements in all aspects of work and to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure that all workplace environment, health and safety (EHS) & Security legislations, corporate and other EHS & Security requirements are complied with (including ISO9001, 14001, 45001 and SS651).

Act as WSH committee secretary; responsible for preparation, developing and safekeeping of meeting minutes of each WSH committee meeting. Meeting minutes to be sent to the committee on a timely basis. Lead the WSH committee to drive continual improvement in WSH culture.

Lead incident investigation and ensure closure of actions identified.

Lead and facilitate EHS promotional programs to cultivate stronger EHS cultures in the company.

Manage documentation and participate in audits related to EHS & Security matters; follow up and ensure proper closure of the audit findings that’s related to EHS department and work with various stakeholders for other EHS & Security related findings.

Provide the required support for plant shutdown / overhaul activities (eg. establish EHS & Security audit plan and conduct EHS & Security training for contractors etc.) as well as plan and conduct EHS & Security training for site stakeholders.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Degree in engineering or EHS & Security field or WSH Specialist Diploma, preferably with at least 3 years of relevant working experience in chemical manufacturing plant would be advantageous.

Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer with MOM; with at least 3 years of WSH experiences and sound knowledge of relevant regulations and legislations.

Registered Fire Safety Manager with SCDF; with at least 3 years of experiences and sound knowledge of fire protection system.

Conversant with EHS & Security principles relevant to operation of a chemical plant.

Have a high emphasis on standard setting and must have organising, thinking and communication skills for all aspects of EHS & Security works.

Knowledge of local regulatory requirements relating to the EHS aspect of the business operations.

Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant management system standards requirements (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and SS651). Experience in leading internal audits is a plus.

Strong sense of ethics with ability to work and communicate with all levels in the organisation and be a team player.

Positive attitude and self-motivating.

Proficient in using MS Office application.
