Job summary

National University of Singapore is seeking an Assistant Manager (Environmental Health & Safety) at the Kent Ridge Campus. The role leads the Safety & Health Management System, regulatory compliance, and incident investigations within the Civil and Environmental Engineering domain.

You will coordinate hazard controls, training, audits, and emergency planning, engaging stakeholders and maintaining accurate EHS records. A fixed-term contract may apply for this executive & administrative position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HSE/Engineering or related discipline.
• Knowledge of Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health Act and regulations.
• Competency in hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
• WSHO registration with MOM preferred; FSM advantage.
• ISO 14001/45001 internal audit certifications preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in construction, lab or engineering environments.
• Familiarity with chemical safety and hazardous substances management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Department’s Safety & Health Management System.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and fire safety regulations; manage licences.
• Provide technical advice on hazard ID, risk assessment, and safe work practices.
• Oversee laboratory safety, including commissioning/decommissioning of facilities.
• Administer Permit-to-Work systems and high-risk work controls (e.g., LOTO).
• Plan and conduct safety inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews; close findings.
• Lead incident reporting/investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Develop emergency plans and coordinate drills and business continuity.
• Conduct safety training and engagement initiatives to promote culture.
• Maintain S&H records and liaise with MOM/NEA/SCDF on matters.
• Serve as Secretariat for S&H committees; provide backup for S&H personnel.
