Job summary

The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of AI Engineer in the Centre for Holistic Inquiry into Lifelong Learning (CHILL) at Kent Ridge Campus. You will work within the SPARK Research Programme to convert CET content into microlearning modules, develop AI generation pipelines, evaluate open-source models, and integrate selected approaches into reliable workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong Python and software fundamentals; Node.js/TypeScript familiarity a plus.
• Hands-on exposure to open-source or open-weight ML models (LLMs, RL models, TTS).
• Interest in generative AI areas (language, vision, speech, multimodal).
• Experience integrating ML models or generative AI into apps/APIs/workflows is a plus.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience; strong project/internship experience welcome.

Responsibilities

• Develop and iteratively improve the AI generation pipeline for SPARK App features.
• Evaluate generative AI capabilities for educational content and learning experiences.
• Explore suitable open-source/open-weight models and integrate into workflows.
• Prototype SPARK App features and support evaluation studies with data instrumentation.
• Collaborate with instructor-facing and student-facing interface teams.
