Job Summary

We seek a skilled EDM Machinist to program, set up, and operate Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) for precision aerospace components. The ideal candidate has expertise in sinker/wire EDM, aerospace materials (superalloys, titanium), and adherence to AS9100 standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. EDM Operations

Program, set up, and operate CNC EDM machines (Wire EDM/Sinker EDM) per engineering drawings.

Machine complex aerospace parts from Inconel, titanium, stainless steel, and other exotic alloys.

Perform first-piece inspections and adjust machine parameters to maintain ±0.0005" tolerances.

  2. Quality & Compliance

    Follow AS9100/ISO 9001 procedures and customer-specific requirements (e.g., GE, Pratt & Whitney).

Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, CMMs, optical comparators) to verify part dimensions.

Document inspection results and maintain traceability records (lot control, material certs).

  3. Process Optimization

Troubleshoot machining issues (wire breaks, electrode wear, surface finish defects).

Collaborate with engineers to improve EDM processes, electrode design, and cutting efficiency.

Maintain machine maintenance logs and report equipment issues.

  4. Safety & Continuous Improvement

Adhere to aerospace safety protocols (lockout/tagout, PPE, handling hazardous materials).

Participate in Lean/5S initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity.

Qualifications & Experience

ITEC/NITEC/Diploma in Precision Engineering or Machining (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of EDM machining experience, preferably in aerospace/defense manufacturing.

Technical Proficiency

Proficiency in:

  • EDM programming (Esprit, Mastercam, Sodick, Charmilles)
  • GD&T interpretation and aerospace blueprints
  • Wire/sinker EDM techniques (orbiting, skimming, multi-pass cuts)
  • Familiarity with aerospace materials (e.g., Inconel 718, Waspaloy, Ti‑6Al‑4V).

Certifications (e.g., Nadcap, EDM-specific training) are a plus.
