Job summary

Argus Media is seeking a senior Editor to oversee real-time market coverage, price assessments, and market analysis across regions. You will lead a price reporting team, ensure editorial standards, and present to clients and industry events.

You will direct reporting, write and edit market commentaries and outlooks, collaborate with colleagues, and play an ambassador role for Argus in the region. Hybrid work from Singapore with probation-required in-office presence.

Job description

This is a management position that oversees real-time coverage of the relevant market, including but not limited to the price-assessment process and market coverage, creation of market analysis and breaking news, coverage of events such as press conferences and industry gatherings, and management support. The Editor also collaborates with colleagues on other teams and in other regions.

What will you be doing?

• Maintain quality of team’s market price assessments, and adhere to rigorous compliance standards; includes regular or backup market coverage, as needed.

• Oversee quality and relevance of methodology for related market(s).

• Help direct, write and edit market commentaries, news, analysis and market outlooks.

• Ensure end-of-day publication of content to subscribers.

• Assists in the hiring process, including interviewing prospective candidates.

• Conduct regular reviews of staff to give and receive feedback.

• Ensure adequate resourcing of team regardless of vacations and sick leave.

• Contribute to presentations as directed by management; give presentations to clients and at industry events.

• Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders (buyers, sellers, traders, brokers).

• Help reporters develop new contacts within the market.

• Assist with training direct reports, and provide regular feedback and guidance on daily work.

• Attend conferences and events.

• Adhere to strict deadlines.

• Provide subject-matter expertise to other Argus departments.

• Work on special projects as needed.

What we’re looking for in you

• 2+ years’ experience of managing market reporting teams within a Price Reporting Agency (PRA).

• Extensive experience in delivering breaking news, insightful market reports, and in-depth analytical articles.

• Ability to use data to generate stories and analysis using Excel is preferred.

• Background in biofuels markets preferred but not essential.

• Expertise in editorial processes including implementing and managing Quality Control and Editorial Standards.

• Understanding of price reporting methodology and compliance issues.

• A strong understanding of market supply and demand dynamics in commodities.

• A sound grasp of commercial issues and an ability to evaluate strategic business proposals.

• Proven public speaking abilities. This position will be an internal and external ambassador of what we do and must be an accomplished and confident speaker.

• Excellent communication skills with ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.

• Proven internal and external training capabilities. This position will be responsible for ensuring a consistent approach to methodology and training within the teams.
