Research Scientist
Background
The mission of the Adaptive Robotics and Mechatronics (ARM) group in the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) is to provide key technologies and expertise for the development of robotics and automation systems. The Intelligent Robotics section focuses on research and technology development in new robotic mechanisms and intelligence, incorporating cutting-edge AI trends such as reinforcement learning, generative AI for enhanced planning and simulation, foundation models for robot perception and decision-making, and multi-modality AI for task-oriented robot manipulation.
We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team and drive cutting-edge research in the field of Intelligent Robotics. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of robot systems and algorithms that leverage AI and machine learning to enhance autonomous capabilities in various real-world industrial applications such as manufacturing, logistics, etc.
Responsibilities
Conduct research on robot perception, planning, and execution control to develop intelligent robotic systems capable of autonomous tasks.
Develop and implement novel algorithms in robot learning, motion planning, multi-modality fusion, and robotics foundation model/vision-language-model, etc.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the integration of AI-driven robotics into real-world applications, including autonomous systems for manufacturing, logistics, etc.
Support and contribute to the development of technical roadmap, initiate new research ideas for proposal preparation.
Work on interdisciplinary projects with other research scientists and engineers to push the boundaries of robotics.
Required Background
PhD in Computer Science, Robotics or relevant discipline.
Good track record and research experience in robotics, computer vision, or related areas.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to new areas of research and technology.
Good hands-on capabilities in developing and implementing intelligence and robotics applications
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++, as well as AI and robot frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow, ROS, etc)
