Job summary

A leading shipbroking firm based in Singapore is seeking a Broker to join their team. The ideal candidate will manage client accounts, develop relationships with agents, and support the brokering business through market analysis. A degree in Maritime Studies or relevant experience is required, along with at least 2 years in Dry Cargo broking. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are essential for success in this dynamic role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in competitive broking in Dry Cargo or Operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Additional Asian language skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Client accounts management and relationship maintenance.
  • Follow Post-fixture operations until successful delivery.

We are now looking for a Broker to join our vibrant business, based in our Singapore office.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Dry Cargo Asia based in Singapore, you will work alongside colleagues in our Asian offices.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Client accounts mangement
  • Expand and develop contacts with principals from Owners, Operators and Charterers
  • Manage contracts with ship owners and brokers
  • Manage issues arising from servicing client accounts
  • Manage information exchange with clients
  • Maintain relationships with clients

Operations

  • Follow Post-fixture operations until successful delivery
  • Preparing charter parties and other necessary fixture documentation, where required

Support brokering business

  • Support the team with market data analysis to identify business opportunities
Education, Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate should be a team player who is focused with strong attention to detail. With critical thinking skills, you will recognise the value of precision and nuance as much as productivity.

You should have:

  • A Maritime Studies/Commercial/Business degree or relevant shipbroking experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. (Additional Asian language skills are advantageous)
  • Attention to detail, strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data analytics software is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in competitive broking in Dry Cargo, alternatively Operations experience with a desire to transition to broking.
