The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Drone Pilot to join our dynamic team. This is a unique role that sits at the intersection of technology and traditional maritime expertise. The ideal candidate is not just a proficient drone operator but is also a sea‑faring individual with a solid background in shipboard operations and inspections. You will be at the forefront of transforming how maritime assets are surveyed and inspected.
Key Responsibilities
- Drone Operations – Plan, coordinate, and execute safe and efficient drone flights for various maritime inspection projects, including vessels (hull, cargo holds, superstructure), offshore structures, and other marine assets.
- Maritime Inspection – Conduct close‑up visual inspections and capture high‑resolution imagery and video data for condition assessment, corrosion mapping, and defect identification.
- NDT Data Acquisition – Operate drones equipped with specialized payloads (e.g., thermal, LiDAR, ultrasonic) to support Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) methodologies. Prior experience in NDT is crucial for understanding data capture requirements.
- Data Processing & Reporting – Process, analyze, and compile captured data into comprehensive inspection reports for our clients and class society submissions.
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure all operations are conducted in strict compliance with the Singapore Air Navigation Order (ANO) and CAAS regulations, as well as company and client‑specific safety procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance – Maintain and manage the UAS fleet, including drones, sensors, and related equipment.
Who You Are (Our Ideal Candidate)
- You hold a valid CAAS Class A or Class B Unmanned Aerial Pilot License (UAPL).
- You have a proven track record as a seafarer (e.g., former ship officer, engineer, or crew with significant sea time) with direct experience in ship inspections.
- You possess hands‑on experience with Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques and understand the principles behind them.
- You are physically fit and comfortable working in a marine environment, including ascending ladders, working at heights, and being on vessels in port or at anchor.
- You are tech‑savvy, with experience in data processing software (e.g., Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Agisoft Metashape).
- You have an impeccable safety record and a meticulous, detail‑oriented approach.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Valid CAAS Unmanned Aerial Pilot License (UAPL) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional drone piloting experience, preferably in an industrial or inspection setting.
- Demonstrable sea‑going experience and a strong understanding of ship structures and marine systems.
- Direct hands‑on experience with at least one NDT method (Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Dye Penetrant Testing, Visual Testing, etc.).
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
