The Driving Instructor is responsible for providing practical and theoretical driving instruction to learner drivers, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude to drive safely and confidently in compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Instruction
- Conduct both practical (on-road) and theoretical (classroom) driving lessons.
- Teach learners about road safety, traffic signs, vehicle controls, and defensive driving techniques.
- Demonstrate proper vehicle operation, including parking, lane discipline, and emergency procedures.
- Evaluate and monitor drivers’ progress, providing feedback and corrective guidance.
- Prepare learners for the driving test (theory and practical).
Vehicle & Safety Management
- Ensure the training vehicle is roadworthy, clean, and maintained regularly.
- Conduct pre-drive safety checks and instruct learners on basic lorry maintenance (checking oil, tires, brakes).
- Follow and enforce safety protocols during driving sessions to minimize risks.
Administration & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of lesson schedules, attendance, and new driver progress.
- Assist learners with test booking and documentation.
- Submit training reports and feedback to the management.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Stay updated with traffic laws, regulations and driving test requirements.
- Maintain a valid driving instructor license and required certifications.
- Uphold professional conduct and demonstrate patience, good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Promote the organization’s image through courteous and professional service.
