Job summary

Overview

Mastercard’s Real‑Time Payments (RTP) platform enables secure, low‑latency, account‑to‑account payments across multiple markets globally. These platforms operate as mission‑critical national payment infrastructure, supporting high transaction volumes, stringent availability requirements, and strong regulatory oversight.

Mastercard partners with customers and central banks to power the country’s real‑time payments ecosystem, enabling instant payments for banks, financial institutions, and consumers nationwide.

As Director, Software Engineering, you will lead the Engineering & Technology Excellence organization based in Singapore, responsible for the stability, resiliency, availability, and operational excellence of the RTP platform. This role is part of Mastercard’s RTP International engineering leadership team and plays a key role in strengthening customer trust, platform reliability, and long‑term sustainability.

This position is ideal for a senior engineering leader who combines deep technical expertise, front‑line operational experience, and strong stakeholder engagement skills.

You will own and drive engineering delivery activities as well as lead a focus on Platform excellence dimensions ensuring the platform operates reliably at scale and continues to evolve safely.

  • Strong technical foundation in distributed systems, real‑time processing, and production operations.
  • Proven experience leading teams through complex incidents and operational challenges.
  • Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, including executive‑level engagement.
  • Ability to balance delivery urgency, risk management, and long‑term platform health.
  • Clear communicator who remains calm and credible under pressure.
  • Demonstrates Mastercard leadership expectations: ownership, customer focus, thoughtful risk‑taking, and inclusive people leadership.
