JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

As the Regional Director Air Freight Competency Center, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the regional aspects of the Airfreight services, pre/post and auxiliary rates Freight Competency Center within the region. This role demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of airfreight logistics, a strategic mindset, and excellent leadership skills. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing airfreight strategies, optimizing processes, and ensuring the highest level of service delivery to meet the company's objectives. In addition, this function will be the liaison with neighboring internal departments WAT, Air Freight Operations, Regional Process Compliance, IT, Shared Services Centers as well as outside Vendors. All in support of the Head of Air Freight Competency Center Worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Implement the regional airfreight strategy in alignment with the overall business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the regional Air Freight Competency Center team, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing unit.
Operational Excellence
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Air Freight Competency Center, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational processes, reduce costs, and improve service quality.
Relationship Management
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to address client needs and foster long-term partnerships.
Pricing Strategy Development
  • Review and implement comprehensive airfreight services, pre/post and auxiliary rates freight pricing strategies to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Review and execute future, projected rate structures based on analysis of market trends, incorporate competitive landscape analysis, pricing to identify opportunities and threats. All with an end goal to meet customer needs.
Market Analysis
  • Conduct regular market research to stay informed about industry dynamics, regulatory changes, and emerging trends.
  • Evaluate the impact of economic factors, geopolitical events, and other external influences on pricing strategies.
Competitor Pricing Analysis
  • Monitor and analyze competitor pricing structures and strategies to ensure competitiveness.
  • Recommend adjustments to pricing models based on competitive intelligence.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
  • Work closely with sales, operations, teams to understand business requirements and align pricing strategies with overall company goals.
  • Collaborate with regional offices and partners to ensure consistency and alignment in pricing structures.
Technology Integration
  • Stay in the know of industry trends and technological advancements, integrating relevant tools and systems to optimize airfreight operations.
  • Explore and implement digital solutions to enhance visibility, tracking, and reporting capabilities.
Talent Development
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for career growth within the team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)>
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to measure the performance and success of the Air Freight Competency Center.
  • Implement data-driven decision-making processes to drive improvements.
  • Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
    • 8+ years in airfreight operations and management experience with a large scope focused on business, commercial and operational leadership.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team across regions.
    • In-depth knowledge of international airfreight regulations and ability to handle complex issues impacting the airfreight industry.
    • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and achieving operational excellence.
    • Highly motivated leader who is able to apply strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities while working in a competitive, challenging and fast paced work environment.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Fluency in English.
    • Proficiency in using relevant logistics and supply chain management software.
    • Ability to negotiate large, complex contracts with external parties.
