Job Overview

The Director of Tariff Strategy & Mitigation will orchestrate and lead the company’s global tariff mitigation strategy to minimize financial exposure, ensure compliance, and protect competitive positioning. This role serves as the single point of accountability for translating trade regulations into executable plans, driving cross-functional alignment, and advising senior leadership on tariff impacts. The leader will centralize oversight of tariff processes, partner with Global Trade Services (GTS), TEIS, and business units, and ensure strategies align with operational, commercial, and growth objectives.

  • Lead end-to-end strategy for mitigating tariffs, including reciprocal tariffs and recovery initiatives.
  • Model cost impacts of regulatory changes and drive data-driven decisions to optimize footprint, sourcing, and pricing.
  • Partner with TEIS to design systems for tariff analysis, recovery, and compliance (e.g., SAP, PLM).
  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
    • Coordinate execution across Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Sales, Engineering, GTS/Legal, and Product Management.
    • Ensure accountability for mitigation actions and timelines, resolving bottlenecks proactively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Report directly to BU Leadership Team on tariff impacts, action plans, and strategy effectiveness.
    • Advise Engineering/Product teams on tariff implications during design phases to enable cost-optimized solutions.
    • Guide Sales/Pricing on customer communications, ensuring transparent tariff guidance for competitive positioning.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Monitor evolving trade policies, ensuring compliance and minimizing legal/financial risks
    • Partner with GTS to align execution with global trade regulations and company policies.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Centralize tariff tracking, cost modeling, and decision-making to reduce supply chain delays and operational risks.
    • Establish operating cadence: Daily team meetings, weekly sponsor reviews, and bi-weekly LT dashboard reporting.
What your background should look like
  • Experience:10+ years in global trade, supply chain, or operations, with 5+ years in tariff/cost mitigation leadership.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in global sourcing, cost modeling, supply chain planning, and TE processes.
    • Mastery of SAP, PLM, and data analysis tools.
    • Proven program management and cross-functional leadership in multinational environments.
  • Attributes:
    • Strong executive communication (oral, written, presentation).
    • Ability to influence stakeholders, navigate complexity, and execute with urgency.
    • Self-starter with accountability ownership; adept at simplifying complex issues.
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
