Job Summary

The successful candidate will be a member of the Institutional Business Development team based in Hong Kong, and responsible for building out the Greater China institutional business, identifying sales opportunities, assisting with investor due diligence, managing throughout the sales process with key stakeholders, and ultimately contributing to building client relationships and raising institutional capital for Barings in Greater China.

The Institutional Business Development team focuses on multiple investor segments, including central banks, sovereign wealth funds, insurance, endowment, corporate and public pension funds, family offices, consultants, and other investors and intermediaries.

The ideal candidate will bring solid product / investment knowledge, strong analysis, and some established institutional relationships in Greater China across a range of categories to grow the firm’s business and have a proven track record of successful sales and business development in these markets.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work closely with senior sales team members to identify client opportunities, understanding the market landscape and execute client & business development plans across investment strategies
  • Deepen relationships with existing clients and expand new relationships with prospect investors. Regularly engage prospect and existing investors on Barings strategies and market update.
  • Independently handle throughout the sales process from early-stage engagements, addressing prospect requests for information (RFI & RFP), investors due diligence, onboarding and liaising with internal stakeholders
  • Assist on the planning, management and execution of fundraising roadshows with Portfolio Managers
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of strategic marketing plans to build the profile and brand of the firm and generate business opportunities.
  • Maintaining key client database, background and contact information via CRM systems.
Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
  • At least 7+ years of experience working with institutional investors in a similar capacity, with proven track record in institutional business development with Greater China clients
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge on financial products and investment are critical for this role
  • University Degree, preferably in Business Administration or Finance; CFA qualification would be a plus
