About the job

Reporting to the VP, NV APAC and a member of NV APAC Leadership Team, the role will support the APAC region to lead and develop business strategy and execute the region’s long-term vision by managing business development initiatives and leveraging market insights that enhance business growth and efficiency.

The role will partner closely with the APAC Leadership Team and US Divisional leadership/BD/Strategy teams to drive commercial excellence, drive business development and commercial initiatives across multi functions (e.g. China Growth Strategy) by defining, establishing, resourcing and coordinating all key project members (Commercial, Marketing, BD/Strategy, Clinical, R&D). The role will also play a critical role to define the APAC regional business strategy and implement commercial excellence and business development plans to support growth.

What you will be doing
Strategic Alignment
  • Drive strategic growth alignment across Neurovascular division to ensure common goals link to organizational strategy with commercial, market and functional insights, planning, and processes.

  • Seek to align the organization's resources, and processes with its strategic direction to ensure all efforts are focused on the same objectives, leading to improved efficiency, effectiveness, and ultimately, better performance.

  • Foster collaboration with APAC LT and global partners and a shared understanding of goals across functions division-wide

Strategic Planning
  • Oversee the annual divisional strategy planning process, engaging cross-functional leaders to align on strategic priorities.

  • Partner closely with Global Business Development and Strategy leadership to develop common framework and templates for articulation of NV strategies and 5-year strategic plan

  • Partner with Finance and HR to ensure the most current metrics and thinking are accurately reflected in strategic plans such as LRFP and LFTP

  • Drive communication of Strategic Plans throughout the organization

  • Partner with Global Business Development and Strategy leadership to leverage market assessments of regional growth rates, market shares and/or opportunities to highlight greatest ROI for investments

  • Deliver presentations to senior leadership, synthesizing divisional strategy work and key recommendations from teams across the organization.

Strategic Project Management (PMO)
  • Assume PMO responsibility to drive excellence in delivering complex cross-country and cross-BU strategic initiatives; oversee and manage critical strategic initiatives and projects from inception to completion

  • Oversee and manage critical strategic initiatives and projects from inception to completion.

  • Ensure timely delivery of projects while meeting quality standards and achieving intended outcomes.

  • Develop frameworks and tools to enhance project governance, accountability, and communication

Industry Knowledge
  • Educate the Global/APAC leadership team on up-to-date industry, competitor and product knowledge and changes.

  • Maintain awareness of broad industry trends and their impact on the overall business objectives.

Talent Development, Planning & Employee Engagement
  • Develop annual and long-term objectives for direct reports and measure performance of direct reports against success criteria, track progress and provide feedback.

  • Provide leadership, direction, motivation, and guidance to direct reports, ensuring their individual & career development and employee engagement.

  • Partner with APAC Leadership and HR to lead long range talent planning, talent reviews, organizational reviews and succession planning.

  • Act as a team leader and champion employee engagement initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other non-NV SYK divisional leaders and all key SYK functional areas including but not limited to; legal, finance, corporate programs and regulatory affairs

  • Spends time in market to support needs and to maintain and develop strong relationships and understanding of the customer

Who are we looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree or above. MBA is preferred.
  • Proficient in both English and Chinese languages (written and spoken)

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial, business development, or related management roles, with a track record of leadership excellence.

  • 7+ years medical device and market research experience preferred

  • 4+ years of people management experience highly preferred

  • Good understanding of strategic planning processes, and multi-functional business partnership

  • Experience in managing / developing project management across multiple functions in a regional setting

  • Proven leader who will collaborate effectively across all functions, regions and other divisions; and can align and drive change, with an ability to lead and motivate global/regional cross-functional teams.
