Director, Brand Partner Marketing

Your Role at Sephora

Sephora has three major partners: our employees, our customers, and the beauty brands we partner with. As a Director, Brand Partner Marketing, you will play a vital role in all three!

The Brand Partner Marketing team is responsible for building disruptive marketing plans for Sephora brand partners that leverage our Sephora ecosystem, a deep understanding of beauty marketing and Asia Pacific. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, your team will work closely and deeply with both our external partners and our Merchandizing and Marketing teams to serve as:

Brand Marketing Advisor
  • Act as a Sephora representative to top leadership in partner brands, ensuring you and your team are trusted thought experts on strategy and tactical matters, and a key competitive advantage for being exclusive at Sephora.
  • Advise the brands on how to win with Sephora from an omni‑channel marketing standpoint, including sampling strategy, social media strategy, co‑op advertising, and consumer messaging to achieve mutually beneficial business objectives.
  • For select brands with limited marketing means, advise on general marketing strategy and the best use of the brand’s marketing resources, both inside and outside of the immediate world of Sephora
  • Have a keen understanding of the brands’ businesses, priorities, and products.
  • Understand the markets and customers in the Asia Pacific region to guide brands on how to best engage and win market share in our diverse and dynamic region.
Build & Collaborate Within and Outside of Sephora
  • Work through Sephora’s functions, stakeholders and teams across local, regional and global levels both within marketing, with Sephora Merchandising, Retail, Digital and with our external partners to establish strong alignment and deliver high quality execution for the partner plans we build.
  • Manage conflicting priorities, build trust and find win‑win solutions through a deep understanding of the needs and priorities of each stakeholder.
  • Create an inspirational vision and leverage data‑based evidence to align across the business.
  • Identify opportunities for new co‑op marketing programs and partnerships.
  • Build the business case to develop ideas and innovations in to reality and make it happen.
Cross‑Functional Leadership, Organization, Process & Systems Thinking
  • Establish BPM as the go‑to point of contact for the Sephora merchandising leads and external partners in to all things marketing.
  • Build and lead reciprocal partnerships and processes cross‑functionally in a highly matrixed and fast moving organization with demanding and a large number of demanding and strategically important external partners.
  • Identify ways to drive efficiency and scale to constantly expand and improve the quality of the support and the impact of our plans, to make us an indispensable competitive advantage to the brands we work with.
  • Serve as mentor, coach and role‑model to develop the BPM team and cross‑functional partners (with or without direct line management), so they show up as trusted experts to senior leaders in the partner orgs they work with.
  • Cut through and master the complexity of the world’s largest beauty retailer, with 300+ partners across multiple markets and categories by driving a culture of clear operational discipline, efficient processes, agile planning and an impeccable attention to detail.

  • More than 15 years related experience in marketing/advertising, ideally loyalty or retail with some digital experience.
  • Ability to think big picture, be a visionary/idea generator while also getting involved in the details of program execution.
  • Significant experience managing large teams and complex projects with multiple stakeholders (internal, external, local/regional/global, cross functional, etc.).
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple detail‑oriented projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines and staying agile to changing requirements.
  • Willingness to approach projects with a can‑do attitude and create processes to solve problems
  • Strong people development and coaching experience, to grow and build a team of talented and energetic marketers to master marketing and persuaviely influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in creating a vision and culture for an organization and proven experience bringing it to life.
  • A mastery of emotional intelligence, team culture
