Job summary

The Internal Security Department (ISD) of MHA in Singapore is seeking a digitally curious professional to advance forensic extraction across iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS and IoT systems. You will research and devise forensic acquisition methods, assess device states, and guide teams on appropriate extraction techniques.

Responsibilities

• Devise digital forensic acquisition methods for iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS and IoT.
• Understand OS file structures to guide data extraction.
• Advise on the most appropriate extraction methods per device state.
• Research artefacts and App folder structures.
• Liaise with forensic teams to provide guidance and coordinate decoding.
• Collaborate with app developers to plan decoders and analysis tools.

What the role is:

ISD confronts and addresses threats to Singapore’s internal security and stability. What you will be working on:

• Research, source and devise digital forensic acquisition methodologies and tools for various platforms including iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS as well as IoT Operating Systems
• Understand operating systems, file structures and security design in the context of devices access and data forensic extraction from the respective operating systems and devices under investigation
• Be well-verse with the various states of device to devise and advise users which forensic extraction method is the most-appropriate to perform
• Conduct forensic research on artefacts and Apps folder structure/content
• Liaise with various experienced forensic teams on the ground to provide advice, guidance and direction in relation to digital forensic extraction and decoding
• Collaborate with App development team to plan, test and rollout of App decoders and analysis tools that enable users to perform their investigation work

What we are looking for:

• Ability to work independently as well in a team setting
• Relevant knowledge, experience or certifications in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
  1. Knowledge of digital forensic tools available in the market
  2. Digital forensic certifications (past or present)
  3. Working experience in Flash memory, file systems and internal database structure
  4. Experience with Android Studio/Java and/or XCode
  5. Knowledge of scripting language such as Python
