Job description
Overview

The Dietetics Technician is responsible for providing administrative support to the department and to assist dietitians in nutrition related matters as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities (80%)
  • Assist manager in administration work and nutrition-related matters.
  • Assist in development of nutritional education material.
  • Write minutes and reports.
  • Update Dietetics Web page.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement Projects.
  • Assist dietitian in setting up nutrition education programs.
  • Assist dietitian in the development of slides for nutrition education.
  • Assist dietitian in internal / external departmental projects.
  • Assist dietitian in nutritional analysis using computer software.
  • Assist in appointment booking for patients.
  • Perform & document pre-clerking of patients, including social, medical, weight history, diet history, food frequency questionnaire, as needed.
  • Manage oral nutrition supplements (ONS) samples, ensuring no expired products, proper storage and tracking of samples.
Secondary Responsibilities (20%)
  • Answer phone calls, handling enquiries, recording and conveying messages.
  • Assist with data entry in research.
  • Expand Food Composition Database.
  • Collate weekly and monthly statistics.
  • Provide reminders for patients who missed appointments.
  • Assist dietitian in community outreach programmes and research.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Applied Food Science and Nutrition preferred.
  • Good phone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Possesses good computing skills (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Love to work in healthcare.
  • Familiar with clerical / administrative duties.
  • Familiar with healthcare settings.
